  1. hi all, when i got my Z there was quite severe cracking of the outside lense of the rear lights, i figured it must be age so i fitted a good secondhand pair, now i have come to get it out again i notice the offside rear light is as bad again!! an ideas anyone? can the outside plastic lense be bought and replaced seperatley? i dont fancy forking out for the whole lot again. need a cart load of other bits too bit i will stich them in the Wanted section Thanks
  2. thanks all for your advice, borrowed the trade plates, took her for a good blast up the dual carrageway and she sings sweet as a nut again!! just all the other stuff to sort now!!
  3. sounds like a plan to give it a run, have run engine till its up to temp but it runs no better. I have not taxed it cos moneys tight and i did not want to tax a car to have it sat waiting for bits. might have to ask my mate to lend me his trade plates to give it a go!! Thanks
  4. trying to resurect the Z after not touching is for a few months (not my doing) its awfull to start, when i do get it started its missing and spluttering, all over, is this common for a car thats not been used for a while? or am i looking at possible PTU problems, its a 1993 UK TT Auto Thanks
  5. well if you need anyone to give a second opinion give us a shout, i can always pop up, i will warn you tho i am far from an expert.
  6. those are not the connectors, they are the coil packs themselves so if your connectors are shot this wont make any difference, my connectors are fairly poor, but i improved them greatly by cleaning them with a precision deburring tool and some contact grease, i would certainly try this first before shelling out loads, where are you in w yorks? i work in elland Brian
  7. its ok guys, thankfully my soldering is better than my maths!! lol
  8. not sure, that was how i bought the car, as a doer upper, the vac system was not great as it was set up so i am not sure the wategates were working therefore producing tons of overboost, its all better now tho, when i find a shaft i still might have a go at reconning as i still have the kits and 360 bearings.
  9. hmmm i counted it about 3 times and came up with 26 i just counted it again and came up with 28, so its grown two in the last day or two lol, thanks guys i will get my eyesight checked.
  10. When i was looking to recon my turbos (before i found a snapped shaft) I contected a turbo place in wakefield (cant remeber what it was called but it was on yell.com) and they said they would balance the tubs for £25 each.
  11. Hi all, just a quickey, I have a DTA chip to put in my ecu, the chip is a 26 pin chip (unless my eyesight is worse than i think) when i am looking round for chip sockets I only seem to be able to get 28 pin ones!! anyone done this and know what i should use? Thanks
  12. Thanks for the info, wonder if my car only ever had one spacer fitted or if i lost one!! maybe i should buy the real thing and not just pack it with washers Thanks Brian
  13. would appreciate any advice you can help with, I get the dreaded vibration sometimes too, I have recently had my engine and box out to do my tubs, this only seems to have happened since i put it all back together, checked all the usual, exhaust rubbers etc. one thing occured to me tho, when i put back the bracket which holds the centre prop bearing back on the car, the bolt appeared to have a thick metal spacer between the bracket and the body at one side and not the other, I thought that does not look right so packed out the other side with washers untill they were level, could this be my problem? should it have a spacer (approx 1/4" thick) at one side and not the other? should there be spacers at all? thanks in advance for your comments Brian
  14. I did one of my brake pipes at the rear, I took off the exhaust, dropped the driveshaft, and it was still nearly impossible to do, took ages and lots of bleeding knuckles but i did do it. Brian
  15. yeah performance is spot on, and the vibration is in time with speed, i.e. if i knock it into netural the vibration is still there.
