  1. Cheers, I'll have a look change them.
  2. When the driving the Z it is fine with no miss fires, farts or misbheavior....until now. When braking doiwn throughthe gears and coming to a stop the car just cuts out. Starts straightaway again but cuts again when I stop? Any help appreciated. PS. TT, Manual on a 1993 JDM.
  3. don't forget to get some elastoplasts for all the scraping your knuckles are going to get.
  4. According to the manual there is a check ball before the oil goes through the head and the flow of oil is: Oil Pan -> Oil Strainer -> Oil Pump -> Oil Filter and then into the main gallery in the block before it hits a check ball and then goes into the head. If the oil was going to stop it would, I think, stop at a stuck/sticky check ball. I might give the airline a blast through the oil filter connector as this is closer along the oil route.........unless someone knows better?
  5. I considered both the oil pump and the blocked gallery, both are going to be a pain in the ares to check but it looks like I'll have to have a go. Cheers.
  6. Aye Toon is Newcastle. The clacking noise is coming from the top of the engine not the bottom and it goes up as you rev the engine. I've rubbed my finger on the lobe of the cam after the engine has been running but it is as dry as a bone.
  7. Hi, I bought a TT about a year ago and it's driving me up the wall. My engine blew (melted piston) 5 months ago and I bought an engine off some guy on ebay with allegedly 40K KM's on it. I swapped all the goodies off my engine on to it and spent a fortnight getting it back in the car. My problem is it makes a hell of a clacking noise on the top end. I flushed the engine twice, changed the oil and filter twice but no change.....even took it for a blast in case I had a sticky lifter. I checked inside the cam cover through the oil filler and the cam lobes seem dry so I assume the lifters are also dry. Oil pressure is just above the 4 on the pressure guage on the dash so again I assume it has pressure. Would the VTC cut off the supply of oil if the spring is fooked or do you think I may have a kacked oil pump or what else do you think it could be? By the way I'm new to the forum and not a mechanic by any means but I did struggle through and get the engine in and out. Any advice/help appreciated.
