  5. Hi Guys I have been out of circulation for a bit due to excessive communting and a non co-operative Z32 but it the recent sunshine makes me feel like I would once again like to be surrounded by sound of 3 litre V6 engines and some good quality Yorkshire folk. So.... When do we meet?????

  7. Hi Guys I had it serviced last May and I am pretty sure that all the oil was checked/changed then. I wondered foolishly if it was something electrical that had gone, because the other week the AT fuse blew and I had to replace it. Far from being an expert the last time I had a ZED gearbox go on me was when I owned a 280ZX and then the thing just slowly burn't out, getting increasingly more difficult to get into gear. This just seems to have happened suddenly! Anyway thnaks for your help I will have to get someone to look at it for me.
  8. My TT Auto seems to have decided that it won;t bother using 3rd gear anymore. It works fine going from 1st - 2nd and back down, and also goes into reverse no problem, but instead of going from 2nd into 3rd at about 5500 rpm it stays in 2nd and goes up to the red line. Needless to say it won't then go much above 70 mph I don't get any funny whines from the3 gear box and eveything else looks normal (temp, boost gauge, fuel consumption etc.). Any ideas?

I could make the 26th in Wakefield, but I would prefer Egypt!!!!!
  10. I had the strangest experience on Saturday night. First my wipers stopped working and then the car stopped changing gear. Testing it this morning it dirves quite well in 1 and 2 but put it in D and it stays in what I think is 2. The engine is fine and there are no nasty noises anywhere. As the fuse for my wipers has just gone again, are both these problems indicative of a wider electrical fault. I thinking it might be the heavy rain getting into to something!! Any ideas?

Sure did. Also a big thank you to MWLEAHY and SAIKORACER for helping out after a) I locked my self out my hgh security Zed and b) lost my wiper function thanks to a dead fuse!

Hmm - Yes the Saturday would be better for me. If that's OK. SO IT IS SATURDAY 1st December - where are we meeting and do we need to book. There seems little point in a drive around as it will be pitch black, anyway I always get lost in Bradford.

Hey Matt - looks like its you and me mate. I can do either Saturday 2nd December or Saturday 22nd December. Either of these two dates good for you?

Now that my Zed is back in the land of the fully functional thanks to Andy Duff (praise be his name and his toolkit). I would be up for a bit of Xmas cheer. how about a festive curry (we could get them to put some holly on it) in Bradford?
  20. I have passed a maroon Zed a couple of times in the last couple of months in the Colne Valley and over the tops in Kirkheaton. Think it even stopped for Chips in Slawit one Saturday night! Always seem to be drving the Audi A4 when this happens - so no flash!!
  21. Thanks for that Guys - I wil just have to make sure I don't go above 1 on the gauge.
  22. I have a metric boost gauge that measure boost in KG/CM2 rather than PSI. When it is working really hard the needle goes up to about 1.2 which appears to convert to 17 PSI is this about right.
  23. Under normal conditions (i.e. A/T mode) the gearbox will try and move up the gears as fast as possible, to give greater fuel economy, sometimes then it will change gears at 3,000 revs or possibly less (might not be exactly right hear but near enough). In power mode it holds off doing the gear changes until about 5,000 - 5,900 revs so you basically get the most amount of power out of each gear as you move up the box; this gives you maximum acceleration. However if you drive in A/T mode and suddenly slam your foot to the floor the geaebox will kickdown and an orange light will appear in the right hand side of your dashboard, saying POWER. In effect the gearbox will go into POWER mode without you pushing the switch, but will switich off when you stop hammering it! It seems to be similar to the SPORT mode on Auto Jaguars, Mercs etc. Hope this helps!
  24. Hi Mate I know this is a bit obvious, and I am not an expert, but was he on the dole when he got you to do the work? Because if he was - he effectivley bought something knowing that he couldn't pay for it. Isn't that theft????? Personally I would pay £50 to a solicitor and get some good advice. If he owns the house then he has the means to pay and the court might take that into consideration, as it is more won't pay rather than can't. Even if he is on the dole, someone, somehwere will lend him the money against him property so I wouldn't rule the courts out that fast. But thats just me.
  25. I thought that I had seen something about this the other week but can't find now, so apologies if this has been covered previously. I have had my Zed less than a month and this week I did a simple fuel consumption test. I filled up the tank and then set the tripometer to Zero. Tonight I filled the tank and it took 37 litres (8.23 Gallons) to fill it, while the tripometer showed 104 (I am presuming that these are KM as it is an import) which is 64.59 miles. This that means that the car is doing about 8 miles to the gallon!!!!!!!. Any suggestions of what can cause this level of fuel consumption
