  1. Good choice, you will enjoy it, get yourself on m5board if not already its a great source of info. That's not a bad insurance quote either mines just under £500 this year but I'm an old git.
  2. lovetyres.com have good prices for Goodyear eagle F1 A2's, I picked up a set for the M5 for not much more than 452s, I had 452s on previously and these are miles ahead especially in the wet, been a long time fan of the 452s but would never go back after trying these.
  3. I had mine for sale for 3 weeks, got contacted by 3 people in that time and sold it for £1800 which was £200 less than asking price, ok it was an auto but had loads of new parts and pretty good condition. So even at the lower end of the market interest is very thin.
  4. I went with satin, just preferred the look to gloss.
  5. My10 year anniversary would have been next month sold it last week, have to echo the sentiment about the forum though, it's a great place for help and support, yes these cars do need a lot of support hehe, such a massive wealth of knowledge with a friendly atmosphere, some forums are very hostile, we all have different opinions of mods and styling etc but some other forums are just plain rude. This forum has had it's ups and downs but I still keep browsing on a daily basis. I may one day in the future return to zed ownership but it will definitely be SWB next time around.
  6. 7-8k is a good price range, sub 5k are dogs, 9k plus are ambitious, mines just clocked 151k miles full BMWSH, it was a directors car originally and has very little wear and tear, back seats are pretty much the day they left the factory, I specifically went with one that had a good unworn interior and didn't mind a few stone chips here and there as it's much easier to fix paint than source good condition interior panels. At this age it's always good to go on condtion, I looked at much lower mileage ones sub 100k that looked a lot worse for wear. Around town it will do 300 miles per tank 20mpg, commute to work which is mainly A roads and a few urban areas 320-350 22ish mpg, motorway run at 80mph 420 miles per tank appx 27 mpg. Mine is showing signs of a suspension refresh now, creaky suspension, wobble under hard braking etc, it will need new shocks, lower arms, and a few other suspension bits and bobs. At this age they probably all do and it won't be cheap, but I think it's well worth it.
  7. I got an e39 M5 18 months ago and don't regret, yes it can be expensive to run parts are pricey but it is an epic car, fast, comfortable stacks of toys etc, I kept the zed in the mean time as a weekend car but sold it last week, replaced it with a e36 m3 convertible for the weekend toy. Do I miss my zed? I do and I don't, had it 10 years and had some great times with it, but just had the urge for a change and always loved the e36 and fancied a proper ragtop this time. Just buy the best example M5 you can afford, the sub 3k ebay cheapies are wrecks and riddled with expensive faults from what I've seen.
  8. Might have been me mate, where abouts was it.
  9. Does he definitely do the mileage to warrant a diesel variant, the petrol variety is much more refined and a whole heap less complex to fix, the minimal fuel savings could be wiped out with a potentially big bill that diesels can throw up.
  10. My car gets so damp the seat had actually frozen, was just thinking the same.
  11. Could well have been orange, was dark though.
  12. Guy was an absolute tool, driving 3 inches off bumper in the pouring rain.
  13. Had a tailgate tub, dodgy rear spoiler and a shite kit and round LED rear lights. Cheers for nearly wiping my front end out when you decided to floor it on the roundabout and go side ways totally out of control in the wet :cursing::cursing: Do yourself a favour and stick to FWD.
  14. I think 290bhp is also a typo, you'd be looking at around 25bhp max on a 530i remap.
  15. They may just need adjusting, I think there's a hand brake tech on the forum somewhere. Found it http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=150598
