Is 140,000 miles too high???
As you may or may not know from my previous thread, I'm looking for a TT for up to around £3-£3.5K as a weekend/evening car. I've spotted one on autotrader, which is described as a 'mature enthusiast owned example' and in excellent condition. It is a UK auto in black and the pictures do look nice and the spec is good. It comes with a 3 month warranty. I've spoken to the garage, who have advised me that it has done 140,000 miles but has full service history. It's advertised at £3700. Is this good value for money, or would I be better of going for an import with lower mileage????

Can I get a decent TT for £3000??
Since owning my 1991 TT back in 2001, I've gone on a motoring journey, culminating in a Ferrari F355 which I've just sold. I'll be spending the majority of the money from the F355 on sensible 'house' stuff and investments etc, but I've just bought my missus a Clio and have budgeted £3000 to get myself a little toy. Question is, can I get a decent TT for less than £3000. I'm looking for something very well maintained as the main thing is to not have to keep forking out... Am I likely to find what I'm looking for? ie. if not I'll go for something 'sensible'

300ZX TT or SUPRA SZ????
Probably predictable responses from this one, but let's see.. I have in the past owned 2 300zx's, the first in 2001 (a silver 1990 TT that I paid £6500 for) that drove like a dream until I realised that the 0-60 time was not really meant to be executed on wet roads and wrapped the car round a tree. Earlier this year, with my limited budget of £3500, I bought a 300zx N/A. I bought that with a power steering problem that I wasn't able to (nor was Jeff at Zedworld, Western Auto power steering etc) rectify. The car was standard, and well, just wasn't that fast. I am currently driving a (very reliable) Escort 1400, that I bought for a few hundred quid to use as a run around whilst saving for my next 'decent' car. The budget will be £6000 with an intended purchase date of January/February 2004. As you have probably guessed, I have narrowed it down to a 300zx or a Supra non-turbo. The Supra SZ has a 0-60 time of 6.5-6.7 (dependent on auto, 5 or 6 speed) without any mods whilst the 300zx has a 0-60 time of 5.7 seconds?? The Supra is more reliable, but the 300zx doesn't seem to age as well or be as strong??? I have noticed that a hell of alot of ZX owners are now selling up. Is it possible that all but the later cars, are not ageing particularly well?? I used to be into Porsche 944's a few years, back, and remember a time when they went from the best value bargain basement sports car to the point where they had reached their sell by date, and can now be bought for £1500. Is it possible that this is what is happening to the ZX? I HOPE NOT!! It is the best car that I have ever had!! (also owned a GTO!!) How much of a problem are ageing turbos in 300zx's?? We all know about the problems with auto gearboxes, but you don't really want to be paying out thousands for new major components. Anyway, I'm just looking for opinions as to the best car to go for (pros and cons), in terms of reliability, overall performance, image, running costs etc etc I await your comments...

Can anyone recommend car carrying company?
I recently sold my car on Ebay to an Australin bidder who has already paid me but has asked me to transport the car (at his expense) to the shipping company's warehouse in East London. However, the car is now without tax and insurance so will need to be transported by a vehicle carrier (from Bristol to East London). Can anyone recommend a good reasonably priced company???

Third Z lucky?????
My First Zed: Silver 1990 TT, bought in early 2001 for £6000, written off in mid 2001 after bonding with a tree on a wet morning. My Second Zed: Silver 1989 N/A bought in early 2003 for £3500 (inc. £700 DVLA plate), problem with power steering that could not be diagnosed by Western power steering, Wessex Nissan or jeff at Zedworld. Sold in mid 2003 for £3500. Third Zed??? I have always loved these cars, and having been through GTOs, 944's etc, I'm considering having another go, though the model is getting older, and I'm not sure how they stand the test of time. This time, it would have to be a well maintained TT (preferably in silver!!!!). The budget this time around would be £5000 to £6000, though that would have to included a rear light panel conversion (£500) if it didn't already have the mod. What can I realistically get in this price range??? My alternative would be an R33 skyline GTS...

Number Plate Makers????????
I remember reading a post a while back about a company (I believe they were in Ireland) who make number plates mail order. I have legally bought a cherished plate but it will take a few weeks to process. As the new legislation states that I cannot purchase a number plate until the transfer paperwork has been completed, I'm simply looking to buy the plates now, so that they're ready (ie. without having to provide proof of reg. number ownership first)... Anyone know the company I'm referring to, or any similar ones????

Car Washes (ie. IMO/ARC)
Having recently reverted to a Z, from a GTO, I have always washed it using a jet wash. This was out of habit of having to do this with the GTO to avoid half of the body (ie. spoiler) being ripped off. However, its just dawned on me, that I may not have to do this anymore, and may be able to use a normal car wash(which can get the wheels looking really good!!). Can someone confirm that drive in car washes are ok, before I proceed... ps. I have standard spoiler, with tailgate panel conversion.

Radar /laser Detectors
An ex-girlfriend suggested I should get one ater getting 6 points in 2 months!!! I've got a Snooper S1 (cost:£89). This is pretty much the basic model, but I wouldn't spend £2-300 on a more 'advanced model'. The S1 picks up all types of radar, and notifies you within a 1mile radius. The more expensive models have a longer radius, which actually means that the device is beeping at you for longer!!! A 1 mile radius is ample as long as you check your speed as soon as it starts beeping.

Using The AA to transport my Z...??
I need to take my car to Zedworld (Bristol to Tamworth) next week and leave it there for a few days, to sort out a power steering problem (and replace the front brake pads). Being a weekday, I've struggled to find someone to 'usher' me their and chauffeur me home. Being a member of The AA, I'm considering the best method of utilising my 'Home-Start relay Relay-Plus' membership. My options are: 1. Drive the car there, then contact The AA and ask them to take me home, then drop me to collect the car on Saturday. 2. Ask The AA to transport the car there then deliver it back to me on saturday. The car has not broken down, but steering and brake problems, and the fact that Z specialists are few and far between, should justify one of the above...???? Anybody used their membership in either of these ways??? What's the best way of going about it???
