  1. Nice idea that Carcoon... the ~500 quid cost isn't the problem, I just can't imagine the local kids being able to resist the temptation to use it (and my car) as a bouncy castle. I'd seriously consider one of these if my car was locked up in the 20 grand garage I don't have (yet?). I might even go live inside it, if I could get pure oxygen pumped in somehow. Krs... thanks for going to the effort to take more pics and answer my questions. I've been holding off from using a cover until now because I can't see how anything that's in contact with the paintwork won't have an effect on it. But I'm now totally fed up with running out to spray off bird shyte every day. I'm interested in how your cover is seemless (and stitchless) inside, and what the inside surface looks/feels like. It's not that I don't trust you, but I really don't want anything coming into contact with my paintwork that'll mean another respray any time soon. I know you know what I mean... I'd rather pay 500 quid for a cover that keeps the car good for another ten years rather than 100 quid for one that gives wear marks after a couple.
  2. Ah... I forgot to mention I have an all round bodykit and bigger spoiler, so a custom fit for the Z32 may not be ideal. Still, it seems to fit yours OK. Is that pic of your cover with the spoiler fitted? Is the stitching lined with anything on the inside (silicone?)? Not sure it's a good idea to have stitches laying right on the paintwork. Have you noticed any rub marks at all... along the front wings or whatever? Last question - with your spoiler, does the cover reach over the exhausts, or tuck in just above them? My rear bumper drops lower than the exhausts, so the cover would need to be pretty deep or I'd end up with a line across the back. Thanks for the link and the info.
  3. Hi. Can anyone recommend a decent car cover, preferably from experience of owning one... neatly wrapped around their 300ZX? I'm not too bothered what it costs as long as it does the job without marking my pristine paintwork. I considered one of those tent things, but I don't think it'd survive where the car's parked - bit of a wind-tunnel down the side of the house. Ta in advance.
  4. Not being a big fan of 0870 numbers ( http://www.saynoto0870.com ), I found you can call Sky Insurance on: 020 8364 5500.
  5. Paul as well. Wowzers :) No, Mike... since rehab, I'm no longer round the bend. I've moved too.
  6. So, Stu... tell me you're not exporting the entire car, maybe just the engine! If it ends up in the hands of a Scandinavian, you'll have the most powerful Z in the world for the 5 minutes the engine stays held together! Aah, and there was me trying to hold off talking about engine power. That whole topic is worth avoiding here. Are all you guys (maybe not you necessarily Stu) still a bit crazy for some big bhp? I've lost interest in big numbers lately... my 550 bhp gets me down to the shops and back alright. I'm way more interested in getting a car set up to drive as sideways as possible, for as long as possible. Where's that Ian Mc'Macca gone eh? Get on here and say MoMerry Christmas to me you miserable b*st*rd! ;)
  7. 396 rwhp @ 13psi?! With all the best will in the world... it's GOTTA be wrrrrooooonnnnnnggggggg! (with a little bit of added resonance, just for effect). OK. If I suspend disbelief for a sec, Chris - what's been done to make so much power at such low boost?
  8. I'd vote Saturday, but for some strange reason, I can't seem to vote any more! :)
  9. I'd imagine they're the same as T25-28's, aren't they? That's what Smithy's hybrids are, aren't they? Apologies to Smithy / SE if I've got it all wrong. I dunno what SE's T28's would look like on that graph (what I've got).
  10. LOL! :D OK, minor point... he's talking T25-28's... so that's a T25 housing hybrid'd with T28 compressor, right? I've got T28's. What'd that be then T28-28's?! Standard fanny-mould, of course.
  11. He doesn't sell Greddy tubs for a living, does he?
  12. It's foxes and rabbits, innit?! If they made the service good, more people would use it and it'd all fall apart. If they make it more shyte, less people wanna use it and they can cope better. It's not Royal Mails fault they provide a sh*t service - if everyone stopped using it, they'd be fvckin ace! :)
  13. OMG! Leave my big piston out of this woman! As for the size of my balls... best not go there ;) Thinking about it, one of my T28's is probably bigger than your entire engine :) 600 CC indeed :p Anyway, lag... yes, there is a bit, but it's not like you'd think. It's not like the revs are charging away and boost is horribly far behind. If anything, looking at Crazy_Eds boost gauge, it's hitting target boost before the engine's really ready to do anything with it. Mine don't work like that. It gradually comes up making more and more power as it goes. TBH, I don't know the exact figures, but I reckon it must start coming on at sub-3K then go on to make 20 PSI at 5K-odd. I need someone... probably someone small and light (that's you, Miss Thing)... to point a camcorder at my RPM / boost gauges for a better idea really. Oh, these are SE supplied Garrett T28's I'm talking about.
  14. 19 psi?! Umm... b-b-BANG! Where is Thor exactly? It's not some strange place where the fairies live, is it?! Sorry, knee-jerk reaction. You're saying you can run 19 psi and everything is happy. OK 51, get a grip. 350 flywheel sounds perfectly acceptable for a nice running 300 without det. I'd go for that. Seriously tho, with the sort of bad performance you're talking about, it sounds like (being realistic!) you'd struggle to make 300 flywheel bhp. But as Thor seems to be the place to go for really big numbers, I'd say with everything running good at 19 psi, you could well be making at least 2 million bhp. You can quote me on that too... I'm a fackin ex-spert! ;)
