  1. Bio is a little cheaper to produce per unit measure (compared to gasoline). BUT it puts out a lot less energy per unit compared to gasoline. So it actually ends up costing the user more...
  2. Battery cutoff: Bit of pain to open the hood evertime the car needs to be started!!! - but good idea for winter or longer term storage...
  3. Ooops - forgot to add in my reply above... Had to replace all my injectors last year (some may have failed due to the ethanol?). I did re-do the injector electrical system so power is switched off when car isn't running. I have write-ups posted in the Twinturbo.net AutoFAQ section. So far no issues - but would like to go another season to see (car ran just fine after being down for the winter)...
  4. Yep - you are right, not an issue here in US for newer style. To answer the other question above -- in US it's in the fuel at a 10% mix. Already talking here about trying to get it increased up to 15 or 20%. It should be at least two years before that happens -- but this will be bad news for older cars here... Unfortunately it's only a matter of time (everywhere) before global warming concerns cause these fuel changes -- my plan is to really enjoy my Z for the next 5 - 7 years because likely that's all we'll get from older cars (w/out making major changes to the fuel systems)...
  5. Only bad thing is that this price is a bit high for a used part (Z1 tends to be pricey)...
  6. My 2 cents - headlights sit pretty far down from the driver's line of site, can't imagine reflection would be an issue? Lo beam focus lense also keeps directs most of light out and not down around the edges of light housing...
  7. Same to you... http://www.streetneeds.com/uploads/auser/thumb-happynewyearsmall.jpg
  8. Thieves just cut the steering wheel with bolt cutters and slip it off that way -- even faster (less than 20 seconds).
  9. Glad to hear all the people were OK (that's all the matters, cars are pretty easy to replace) -- seems these Zs really can take a beating like that and the folks in the cabin make out fine. Have seen similiar postings like this here in the US and from Japan - looks like the car's survival engineering is very good...
  10. One thing that does keep down costs is by doing as much of the work as possible yourself. The engines are complex and require more time than say a Toyota Corolla to get things done - those labor costs really can eat into your budget. So if you are willing to put in the time (and as others have said - buy a car that's been well maintained) you shouldn't find things too bad.... FYI -- Bought my Z 3 years ago and it was in decent shape. Needed to do the timing belt servicing along with crank and cam seals and the heater core. This winter the plenum is getting pulled since my injectors are starting to fail. My car seems to be somewhat typical of what you'll find in a 15 year old car....
  11. FYI -- For the rears, folks often replace the stock box (top panel) with a piece of wood (MDF-fiber composite or similiar) that's been cut out to fit the new speaker size. It's a way to retain the stock box while allowing a larger speaker size fitment....
  12. OK - so if I were to go with polished, is there any good way to keep it looking nice without having to do a really good buffing every year? It has so many little hard to reach areas - would think this is the biggest problem?
  13. Actually -no I don't have to pay that, cause I live in the states (yipee)... I was trying to find another source that has a bit better version -- figured there might be a supplier in the UK or Europe?...
  14. I'd like to go with Chrome if possible -- polished takes a bit more work to maintain....
  15. Any have a good source for Z32 Crhome Plenums? Looking to do a little engine dress-up work over the winter months. Thx...
