    Date depending, I'm in. Tony

I love a good curry. I don't know any of you (I think) but I'm fairly local (Brentwood). Ahhh, the heady days of Southend. On the pull in ToTs (mixed success to be honest), cruising up and down the seafront in my trusty od Escort, and dodging the plod and their traffic cones.... Well, it was twenty years ago! I'll watch out for a date!
  3. Problem is that the police can't do anything because the do-gooders have tied thier hands behind their backs, and we can't do anything because the law favours the crim rather than the householder. And of course the little sh1ts know it...
  4. Cheers again all, although I'm told my 260Z will be ready on time. What a decision!!!
  5. Cheers folks. It's tempting! If it's sunny a roof-out blast would be great! If I do it I'll take some spare hoses & clips etc. She does whiff of petrol every now and then but that's on cold days I think. I'm pretty sure a newer PTU was put in before I bought her so that should be OK. A spare engine is unlikely though :-) I'm still planning to go in my 260Z which may be cramped and unrefined by comparison but is mechanically MUCH simpler and usually fixable if a problem arises. Unfortunately it's in the workshop at the moment, so I'm prepping the Z32 just in case. Tony
  6. Thanks all. Any spares I should carry though?
  7. Folks, Would anyone be scared to take a 1993 N/A Z32 2+2 on a long drive (round distance approx 1,000 miles)? I'm going to Le Mans next week and there's a chance that my 260Z (which I had been planning to go in) won't be ready in time, so I might take the Z32 instead. I know the Z32 will be faster and more comfortable than the 260, but at least with the 1978 car I know that most things can be fixed by the side of the road! Am I mad to consider it? Cheers, Tony
  8. Sorted it. I finally, finally, found five minutes to have a look at the indicators! The fitment is indeed a twin filament bulb, so the holder has two connectors for the base of the bulb. When you indicate, one filament lights up constantly, and the other one flashes. Why the heck it works like this I have no idea, but it does! Of course, a UK-spec bulb has one contact point and this bridges the two contacts in the holder, so the bulb comes one but doesn't flash. I reckon I can fiddle the wiring, but it looks as if there's something built into the wires there so I'm not sure I want to try! I wonder whether I can buy twin-filament silvatecs!!!???
  9. I asked pretty much the same question a while ago. It's all about how much work the engine has to do turning itself before it gets to think about moving the car. Same sort of benefit as a lightened flywheel. If the engine loses less power through moving its own bits and pieces, it can put that saved effort into giving you more of a push in the back :-)
  10. Was it a straightforward job overall? I had a Rover 620 (nee Honda Accord) which had GREAT night vision and now I'm driving a around in a Nissan supercar and having to squint all the time!
  11. Try the vid for Uniting Nations "Out of Touch". Utterly, utterly gorgeous girl in it.
  12. That's interesting lads - thanks... I'll try taking bulbs out over the weekend and find out. If only I'd paid more attention to what I was taking out when I put the silvertecs in!
  13. It went round my office a few days ago... *hic*... Melly Chrishmush ellyone!!!
  14. Thanks all. Latest developement is that I realised they worked in the morning, but not in the evening. Duhhh? The difference of course is that in the evening I have my lights on! So.. No lights - indicators work fine Sidelights - indicators work fine Dipped Beam - indicators come on but don't flash Main Beam - dunno, got too p*ssed-off by the dipped-beam result! Any ideas?
  15. Thanks lads - that's about what I'd suspected. Several different designs out there and I did think one of the rear ones looked OK (could be the chap mentioned above, I don't remember). Fronts I've heard are a pain in the *rse so will be getting proper pukka for that one at least. Of those who've fitted one (these are for a '93 import 2+2 N/A), do you think they've made a huge difference?
  16. What really p*sses me off is when I'm walking along behind someone and I suddenly get a lungful of second-hand carcinogenic grot because I don't know they're smoking. Puffers, go and poison yourselves somewhere away from me! That said, I think pubs that want to allow smoking should be able to apply for a licence to do so and then have to have a smokers section. As supposedly free people in this country we should be able to make our own decision about going in there!
  17. Don't forget that all are also welcome at South East & Kent Z Club meets - 1st Sunday of each Month at Halfway House on the A127 from Midday onwards. Usually a good selection of classics, Z31/2 and a smattering of 350's.
  18. Ah... right, cheers Darkside.
  19. Has anyone tried the front or back strut braces that crop up on Ebay? I know the front can be (very)awkward, but the back one must be fairly straightforward surely? They're on Ebay for £20! Cheers, Tony
  20. Chrome inserts? Sorry to be dumb but what's that?
  21. Legrath, that might be the solution to my problem. What bit do you think I need and how much do you reckon it would cost?
  22. I saw "V8 GAY" on Ebay a while back. I was gonna go on Pistonheads and give the link to the TVR lads :-)
  23. I chose an N/A due to reliability concerns and cost of maintenance and went for 2+2 as my Wife/kids may have to use it if her car is out of action (*shudder*). Targa is as yet an unknown quantity (only had it a month) but I won't be opening it up before summer anyway! Definitely a bit thirsty, but that may be down to an enthusiastic right foot!
  24. Mine have been misbehaving too. Sometimes the indicators work and sometimes they come on but don't flash. Seems to be on a by-journey basis rather than by-use which is really weird!
