  1. Can someone explain to me the logic behind the idle speed?... (N/A Jap '92) On cold mornings before the engine warms up there seems to be different idle speeds... circa 2000rpm, then down to something around 1500rpm, eventually settling out around 900rpm once warm... On warm days, or on returning to a still warm engine, the idle speed is around 900rpm... Anyone of the resident experts care to explain whats supposed to be happening?? :) Thanks in advance Dave
  2. I may have resolved the issue with my motorfactors... they also list discs under FairladyZ_Z32 - they are different to the ones I have so maybe they will be okay.... I will let you know tomorrow. Dave
  3. Ah ha! I was hoping someone would tell me my motor factors was wrong about them being the same. Thanks for the link too. Very helpful forum! So far, I'm thoroughly enjoying Zed ownership !!!! Dave
  4. It's an NA Jap Import - The factors books list the same disc for NA and TT.
  5. Hi, I've just changed the rear discs and pads with absolutely no problems at all. :) Then to the fronts... The disc looks correct, but I just can't get the caliper to fit correctly over the disc - the disc seems to be slightly (0.5mm) outboard to far - I have cleaned up the hub assy and tried to push the disc full home but to no avail. The caliper fits around the disc - but cannot be bolted back without fouling on the outer surface of the disc. So, decided the disc was out of spec, had the motor factors get me a replacement set from a different manufacturer... looks like i'm going to have the same problem again... they are dimensionally identical. Its difficult to make a comparison with the old disc - since they are completely knackered. Am I just dead unlucky with 'pattern' parts - do I need to get genuine nissan items? Or am I missing something obvious - should the calipers be shimmed? (to push them outboard a little) Help! Dave
  6. Thanks everybody. Very helpful forum - I've learnt a lot already! I'll tackle the belt myself I think. After looking at the Journal entry It doesn't look too bad - Is there space to get a reasonable size puller on the crank pully - or is it a case of levers, mallets and swearing? What about locking the cam shafts, are there locating pin holes or do I need a special tool? The other thing that would be handy... a photo of a UK (inside) fusebox lid! Mine is entirely Japanese! Dave.
  7. Hi, I'm new to the forum, and new to Z32 ownership. I've just bought a nice Jap import Non Turbo. I have just called the local Nissan dealer to get a quote for a timing belt change - the price is rediculous - so I'll do it myself... however, one question first. The dealer said the aircon needs disconnecting to change the cambelt... is this true? Is the engine 'safe'? Ie if the belt snaps, do the valves hit the pistons or not? Thanks Dave
