  1. My local garage just took out nearside turbo with engine in. Charged 5 hours labour, 4 hours to put new turbo back in. He said offside turbo could come out without removing engine but would cost more as they would have to remove steering components. Cheers, Martyn
  2. Hello, I have just paid the garage NZ$2000 - about GBP700 to remove LHS turbo, send away for repair, could not repair - too damaged - so install new one. The turbo cost NZ$1300, the balance was labour. I looked at removing turbo myself, but unless you have good facilities for working under car, ie hoist, pit then pay the man! Cheers, Martyn
  3. The car is standard, spoke to local turbo guy and seal is the problem. He says no problem to use, it will just slowly get worse... Have had a good look at turbo out - will have to get engine taken out - then a 5 min job!
  4. Cannot see any smoke in rearview mirror when I drive off but have not had anyone follow me yet to confirm. I was reading online service manual and it seems like a 5 minute job to pull a turbo...........LOL
  5. It only appears when engine is warm and only one bank, so far all that I have read says condensation is only on startup.
  6. Hello all, sorry to jump in like this - but I am an expat..... Bought a Z TT a couple of monhs ago and now have just noticed smoke from LHS exhaust when hot, not enough to help global warming but not a good look. I had a read of this on your tech article: Grey Smoke with light Blue on Full Temp - This is the Sign of the dreaded rear turbo seal failing, this can usually be attributed to wear of the engine or component failure, will need the seal replacing to regain full performance, new seal - 20 quid , cost of labour 650 quid : and that seems to be it...... As I have full power I assume it is a seal that is leaking not turbo failure...yet. So my questions are: Could it be anything else (please please!). If it is seals how long before more problems. Lastly is it possible to do turbo out while engine is in car? BTW Great site and forum .............. go the All Blacks ( and me a Welshman) Cheers, Martyn in NZ
