  1. Good choice! S0-2s are no longer being produced by Bridgestone anymore so it's just the remaining surplus that is being sold. They do take a bit to warm up, but the nice weather recently would help.
  2. Well some people might fancy a car that wants to be driven hard, go faster in corners aswell as in the straight line and still requires concentration for it. It was never built to be sat in a driveway somewhere in Bedford, 5 days a week being polished for other internet members to drool over and constantly fit bits purchased on ebay. It is a car that is meant to be driven, the seating position is excellent for car this size, gear shift is fantastic, 8000 RPM, and exhaust pops and flames. There is no time to play with double DIN DVD players or looking at leather re-trimmed console panels. Granted the GT-R is not a "pretty" car, its a rugby player compared to a pretty boy diving footballer that needs pampering and hype.
  3. In this instance I really dont believe you, not one bit. This is the internet afterall, claims are exagerated, facts are omitted. The limit of the GT-R is when the rear wheels begin to slide, its a very difficult trick to maintain this in tighter bends and avoiding power being sent to the front wheels. Many people have lost control of GT-Rs and twatted them by lifting off and over correcting, some people keep the throttle planted and the car will wallow and settle itself, some people will keep it in RWD state and power out of a bend without any problems, it takes skill to do this. Try visit youtube, and watch Motoharu Kurosawa (Gan San) drive a stock R33 around Nordschielfe and come back and tell me it looks unrewarding. I appreciate this is a 300ZX enthuast forum, and in this forum, the 300zx is the greatest car on earth, nothing is more fun or better looking etc, and some of you have a chip on your shoulder with the GT-R, but that doesnt change the fact that some people on here who own and driven GT-Rs more times than you have, in dry, wet, good and bad roads wont appreciate such ignorant opinions based on limited experience. I have driven/owned M3s, Supras, Honda S2000s, Maserari 3200 Twin turbos, all capable RWD cars that can kill you if you dont respect them, I dont find them anymore rewarding than a GT-R when driving aggressively.
  4. Of course the R33 GTR twitches and breaks the rear end out, you just havent driven it hard enough. This is with a standard one, much less a modified example. It is a RWD car 90% of the time, alot of people crash GT-Rs because they dont treat it as one.

Totally different cars, just decide what kind of driving experience and ownership experience you want rather than listen to what someone else *thinks* looks better based on a few pictures off the internet. The R33 GTR is the easiest and most accomodating of GTRs, so its a good introduction to playing around with the real Skylines (not the 3k GTS jobbies you see on ebay) - the suspension is softer than both R32 & R34, its more closer to the Zed/Supra in ride quality, less road noise, a bit more cabin space than the older R32. Its pick up from 1500-2500 RPM is slower than the lighter R32. It has a rear adjustable wing that gives you low drag or reduction in rear lift to improve rear grip. It's not a computer, I hate it when people from the internet or the streets assume this. Its a RWD car 90% of the time, with an active system that transmits upto 50% power to the front wheels. Its still possible on UK roads to lose rear end control of a GTR even with the 4WD system trying to help you.
  6. I hate when people start digging up old Formula 1 engines and compare them to modern ones based on rated BHP. The modern 2.4 V8's have to last 2 grand prix weekends, that includes practise runs, qualifying and race, they "could" be more powerful, if the FIA wasnt trying to cut costs by imposing annoying engine rules.
  7. I'm impressed with how your dyno gave you the HP at the wheels and gave you a realistic flywheel estimate from it. Nice numbers.
  8. There's a big market in selling MKIV supra parts, so tuning shops spend a big budget on a show car and try to win whatever they can to boost sales. Same with the Skylines and Imprezas/EVOS, but with the extra advantage of 4WD to make amateur circuit drivers appear fast. The small Vauxhall/Ford box jobs (this includes cosworths) are usually home project cars that the owners are willing to destroy trying. They have their daily driver and their transit van for their main transport. Their cars are striped down, with aggressive power mods, brakes, stiff suspension etc etc. So where does your daily driven, drive to cruise/meets, comfortable ZX's fit in with TOTB???
  9. Your car doesnt sound like no slouch, I guess you happenned to bump into 2 budget 4-pot bangers that have aggressive modifications done to them, whilst yours is just bolt-on modifications such as exhaust, also with extra boost. Also try to get on the gas pedal atleast as soon as your opponent - it makes all the difference. :)
  10. 99 ZX's are really nice. Shame they are rare on the used car market.
  11. I dont think it would...too close to call. A 245 HP rev 4 MR2 Turbo has a power to weight ratio of 195 bhp per 1000kg Consider that a 280 HP ZX only manages 180 hp per 1000kg
