no obvious hissing sounds from the engine but i'm going to block off the intake and use an air line to pressurise the inlet manifold and listen for any leaks on saturday.

using optimax, gauge does go to anywhere between 10 and 7 psi when turbos come in depending on whether safety boost comes in .(not giving it any sort of use as detonation is bad!!!)

its a uk spec with -14 to +14 boost gauge. also runs very hot but this could just be due to the det.

help...just had a second hand engine fitted to me zed but its running like crap. seems fine when cold but gets bad detonation when hot, Also boost gauge reads 0 to 0.5 psi when at idle,drops to -2when slowly accelerating and goes on up to 10 when hard accelerating.is this an air leak or something worse/wrongly connected. Bloke who did the work is a "jap specialist" but then admitted to have never worked on a zed after job was done.
