Boomin 33s Car.... Its Alive!!!
Thanks for coming down Pete and letting me talk you into helping me out for a couple hours! much appreciated. my take on it... pulled it out of the garage for the first time in 2.5 years today. bit dusty.. but boy did it sound sweet when it fired. spent a good 2 hours messing around with it as there was an issue with the starting button in the cabin. Ends up the starter motor I changed out was probably 100% fine. Doh. The starting button is not though and we needed to wire a direct jump for the starter to the battery. I figure an hour of tracing the starter button wire will reveal the issue and a quick remedy. But alas the positive message ! All I can say is... definitely fell in love with it again - instantly. what an amazing smooth sounding engine this car has. idles with an awesome sound and when i got the gas on the surge/sound put a smile on those of us standing around it today. Just like a parent big-ups their own children, I truly felt that I've got quite a special 300zx here. All I can say is... definitely fell in love with it again - instantly. what an amazing smooth sounding engine this car has. idles with a great throaty grumble and when i got the gas on the surge/sound put a smile on those of us standing around it today. Just like a parent big-ups their own children, I truly felt that I've got quite a special 300zx here. SlickPete seemed to know a lot about the original engineering shop that did the build and perhaps even the guy who built it. More than a couple things he said about the Engineering, components on this car and also the Condition of a Mk1 UK Car planted seeds of doubt as to why I'm selling! Cheers Mate.

Back in the UK for short period to liquidat - RE: my High Spec 300zx - Todays Values?
sorry for the quiet spell. I will post the serial number to those who want to know. I bought it from a guy up in Leicester in 2006 who said it was a UK 1991 Model. In 1999 he bought a new Engine block and started the rebuild. He worked at a Body shop had the Custom front bumper made, Took out the side petrol feed / put in the race type feed in the boot, had the cage built.. the list goes on an on. When I bought it from him off ebay I went up there and his wife made me lunch. This car was their "pride and Joy" a car they both had a lot of passion for, but needed to sell for financial reasons. Before I left I was given a folder with receipts that add up to over £42,000 Since I got it, I had to rebuild the Top bank as a cylinder tapit disintegrated as it was running lean. around £1400 And then before my last outing in 2011 I spent close to £2K putting in 750CC injectors, new fuel piping and a fuel pressure regulator. I took it to japfest and can stay that on the track it was a very stiff, solid piece of engineering. all I had to do was get on the accelerator coming out of the bends or get full boost on in anything up to and including 3rd gear and the back would just start stepping out. It was fun. From memory I'm running 1.1 or 1.2 Bar of boost. *Ryan at 2Bar tuning has spent hours with me on the rolling road and will verify that mechanically this car is rock solid. - I never pushed the envelop on the Rolling Road but we figured that 600 at the wheels was certainly within grasp with the 750cc injectors. From memory I have a 540 at the wheels Rolling Road readout from 2006. - I had him tune it to 450 at the wheels for Japfest. Figured it was a very safe figure. anyway.. have to get back to work right now. Will get out the specs this week and post. Some Highlights: £1800 pair carbon seats £ Motec M800 Engine Management System £ Custom built straight through exhaust. Separated. One for each bank £ The Roll Cage, Pictures barely do it justice. The Welds look like works of art! ( ok , now i'm selling ;) ) £ AP Racing 4 pot Calipers. I thought about going to 6 pot for bigger cosmetics but never had any desire/need for more stopping power... so didn't It most certainly has to go, and although I'm doing myself a disservice... can't see having the time to get it MOT'd, Taxed and Insured. will make the decision in the next couple days. For those who are serious, I will go over in detail every inch of this car.. what I know, What I think.

.. starts to sound like a reasonable idea but cannot get sidetracked. Time is the most valuable and limited commodity in my life at the moment. I'm here until Christmas in Alaska until April and then back to France for June for good. I have nowhere to put this car until then and my Mother in law has said in no uncertain terms to get it out of her garage as a matter of urgency. -- for the moment going to replace the Starter motor, get it "purrring" for people to see that it runs sweet. And then sell to the highest bidder, sight as seen. So anyone want to show their hand with a guess'timate?

OK.. In order to fend off any hate mail for posting what could sound like a for sale thread, I just paid my renewal on an annual subscription.. So some sound advice for my £10! ? :) ------- - I'm going to sell it for whatever it makes. I need it gone within a month. I bought it in 2006... put a total of perhaps 400 miles on it. The Starter motor packed at ZedFest and had to bump start it to get home. Going to take that off this weekend and get it re-manufactured. NO Insurance, NO Tax, SORN. so pretty much NO Test Drives. That will Drive the Price Down!!! eh.

Back in the UK for short period to liquidat - RE: my High Spec 300zx - Todays Values?
Heya Guys, I notice a few of the regulars still posting so thought I'd put this up for some honest advice. I pretty much live in France now chasing surf and am back for 3 months to finish a long list of left-behind projects. I'm 100% going to shift this 300zx of mine (The White one I used post loads of pics for and as far as I could tell was always in the top 5 power-houses in the UK) -- I don't say this to start a debate!! :) So, I haven't even started my 300zx since JapFest a few years ago, it's sitting in the same garage it was always in. AND There-in lies the Rub - House is no longer mine and the new inhabitant ( Mother-in-Law) is F'ing and Blind'ing to get it gone. With the £45K+ that went into it's build and hardly any miles on it, I always thought it was worth an easy £7K+... but never got any serious interest. Within a few weeks I may just stick in on ebay and get what it gets. - If you think there's legs in it & there'd be interest - I'm happy to rejoin here also to stick it up as a sale thread as in parts it would be worth double what I get in a sale, I think. So, What sort of number should I be expecting on sale?? High/Low? Granted it's the wrong time of year! Many Thanks and hope all is well in the world of Zedheads

End of an era - sold the NSX today. 300zx needs to go next.
on a side note. NSXs. truly an amazing bit of engineering with the Looks to accompany. If you ever get serious about getting one. I personally would only go for a 3.2 litre. All the 3.0 litre owners will say that there isn't much in it. But the 3.2s are 6 speed and just a bit more torque'y and also have more to give when the VTEC kicks in. it will mean the difference of £5K - £7K but in my opinion they will hold their values long term enough to warrant the extra wedge. Also... don't even think about buying in the Spring/Summer unless you see some stonking deal pop up. The deals to be had are generally between Sept/Oct and January. I've seen an easy £3K - £7K difference in prices betwee low and high season. ;)

heya Paul.. glad you responded as I want to get in tough for a rematch. ;) I've played two rounds since I've been back 31 points and then 22 pts on sunday... anyway, I don't have your number, give me a call. - yep, a number of reasons were mounting. fact that I'm planning on going back for 4 months next season, trying to buy a very small flat out there etc, all weighed in as well.. That picture I took yesterday is EVIL though... every time I look at it, I just end up wanting to hit myself in the face ;)

naw... was out a nando's celebrating?? the sale of the car. anyway, promised the guy I wouldn't tell anyone the price. he's a regular on the nsxcb site and asked me not to tell people who he was, nor how much he paid. so want to honour that promise. I spoke to another guy today who had a 2003 with 51K miles who was thinking about putting his up for around £44K. mine sold between the two prices :) personally, I was predicting that we are in a little bubble right now and that when all the French, Greece and Spain(next) crap, [didn't the news say recently that the UK is back in recession?] hits the fan that prices on cars like the NSX will drop. I could be 100% wrong... but made a decision and went with it at a time when MOT, TAX and Insurance were up for renewal... time with tell.

going into paying off a max'd credit card and rest into mortgage. tbh. didn't want to say it as it's so borring. but it will reduce payments and with prices at an all time high, seemed like a sensible thing to do. but I will say. I drove the NSX all weekend and into London on Sunday. I had a tubi style exhaust on mine and can say every time i went through the gears I was literally drooling at the sound it made. GTR: got side by side a new white one outside Harrods leaving town... at a light we both dropped a couple gears and launched. I don't think there is much in it between 30 and 90 miles an hour.... NOT that we did this nor would... ;) just a gut feel.

a 2004 with 25K miles sold 2 weeks ago on Pistonheads for £49K ...and that's a lot of spondulees. bit of a frenzy going on, with a lot of interested buyers of low mileage '03s -'05s and only 1 or 2 going up for sale each year. so although it felt sooo wrong, it had to be done. only time will tell if I made a crap decision.
