MOT Fail on brake lines
Help! I just been quoted >£500 for replacement brake lines and the price is high because the rear axle has to be dropped! Does anyone know a way around this without compromising safety or any body who can do the job in or near Leeds? The car also failed on rusted rear sills, am thinking of buying a wire arc welder from ebay for this but is there anywhere I can get replacement pre shaped panels from - I know ZCenter used to sell them but hes stopped now due to a greedy manufacturer?? Any help really appreiciated. PeteH

Claiming compo for speed bump damage!
I thank everyone who has replied here and would add that I know about the dynamics placed on the suspension components to the point of being able to give a science lecture and that its been proven without doubt there is no real benifit to anybody or the planet in using speed bumps on the highways, I have a clean driving licence and my car was upgraded by Zedcenter in Tamworth a year ago and he said my car was one of the best hed worked on in a long time! I also understand that with the car being made in 93 that it is seen as an old car but what if it had spent most of its life luxuriating in money and warmth as it has been and still continues to this day in my garage, its an original UK car that i spent 12 months looking for, its never been ragged (by me) and is still in concourse condition, right down to the very last detail! I am now looking at paying out about £1000 for damage that I have no choice in paying and my gripe is that if I had a choice of decent roads to drive on I reckon this day would never have come about in the first place, I treat my car like my house, I am allways cleaning it, checking for paint damage, I make sure that I park it in safe places and I even (sad to say) know every pothole and speed bump on all my routes into and out of the places I regulary drive to. my only option now is to buy a banger with my paltry wage and take the 300 off the road for now till I can afford to repair her damaged parts, well gutted and pi$$ed off! I know the government will allways win but ive had enough of this country targeting the motorist and I just feel the need to do something now.. Sorry about the rant - am having a bad night! thanks for listening..

Claiming compo for speed bump damage!
Has any peeps here know anybody sucsessfull in claiming compensation from their local council for damaged suspension to their cars? In the space of 6 months - or less, both my rear shocks are gone, my front NS link arm is creaking like mad and just today my front OS wheel has developed a noise equal to the revolution of the wheel, noticed straight after rolling off a monster one near my home - it now feel like i have square wheels! I am totally seething with red mist now and I am 100% going to persue this even if it costs me more money to do so, any advice from anyone having been down this (bumpy) road please let me know... Thanks in advance all PeteH - White 93 UK 300TT Auto

Random power loss/missfire??
Thankx Nick, I had the car fitted out with SS Mongoose, K&N and ecu remapped by Jeff at Zedworld about a year ago and he said it was one of the best 300's hed seen in a long time, I think the power is between 350 and 380bhp - 6months back I fitted a Koyo rad and an extra oil cooler up front and in the last 12months I have had the oil changed every 3k and gone over it every weekend looking for loose connectors ect - its been an amazing car up till now :hurl: I know when shes running well she should pull a quarter mile in about 12secs or less, 0 - 60 in under 5. The last porsche that tried it on gave up around 160 lol although i dont do that very often!

Random power loss/missfire??
Yesterday I started to notice a change with the engines response time relating to the change from normal driving to full throttle - it felt like the engine was holding back and then i noticed what felt like a mild missfire or rumble with the pedal on the floor, I was going about 40mph at the time and during this the car only managed to get to about 60mph - deffo not normal. 5 miles down the road and I tried it again - this time all was ok and the car pulled nicely with tonnes of power and turbo spooling. could this be a coil pack related problem or something more nasty?? I havnt a clue where to start looking and best of I have a new job to start on Monday! (Usually the way!) Cheers PeteH

Need Radiator
Looking for a rad for my 2+2 UK TT auto, mines just started leaking from a pin hole somewhere on bottom left passenger side, aint got the time to start soldering with thick solder lead so need either a known working replacement or an upgrade one with the external oil cooler.. Can anybody help - West Yorkshire :hurl:

Coolant leak at rad after shutdown!
I took my missus for a meal the other night, 20miles out of town and after spending 2 hours in the restaurant we where returning to the car and I spotted a big puddle of blue/green fluid under the drivers side front. I shat myself and started looking around the engine bay for obvious signs of a leak but could not find anything - I could hear a rumble of bubbles in and around the radiator and a 2second drip coming from under the car but still nothing obvious.. When I looked in the radiator I could still see the coolant albeit about an inch and a half lower than it should be so I took a chance and got the car home ok. It appears the leak only occurs after the engine is stopped after reaching normal temperatures - strange? After pulling different coolant pipes off the car I noticed the top radiator inlet pipe connector was split at the radiator and half the connector was still inside the coolant pipe. I have now managed to repair this and am wondering what checks I need to do before trusting myself to drive it and not damage something ie air traps? Also is the TT engine known for certain problems with regard to the coolant system? Thanks in advance all PeteH

Creaking Noises
Blimey, that was quick! Will have a look at those in the daylight although i dont think its going to be the bonnet either. if it is the upper link arms how would i test them whilst the car is static, I have tried rocking the car but the suspension is so stiff that this was useless! mucho gracias

Creaking Noises
Hi all, Just got my car back from the ZedCenter in Tamworth - Excellent work carried out, they fitted a full SS Mongoose, Induction Kit and upgraded my ECU - what a change, its like a different car - I would recommend them to every 300zx owner! Anyway my car has been developing a strange creaking noise coming from the front left area and now also at the right, am I right in thinking it could be the antiroll bar bushes or if not has anybody had the same or know what to look out for? Any help much appriciated PeteH White 93TT Auto Mongoose, Chipped, Induction Kit

Idle Speed
yeah does sound similar to me but mines happening only when cold, I do think its down to a vacuum pipe or a dodgy connector somewhere on the engine because when mine reaches normal temperature its all ok. (metal expansion/valves closing or opening when hot = missing vacuum) and of course the connectors being metal. Having said that, i got in the car this morning and was expecting a struggle to get it going but all was good - started up with the usual auto rev to 1300rpm then it dropped to 900ish - put the car into reverse and it sank the revs to 800ish, took my foot off the brake and started my journey out of the driveway and down south. Got to where i work and when i needed to reverse it into a bay it went straight into gear no problem??? I am going to take mine to this guy Jeff i mentioned as he is only a few miles from where i work and he sounds the type to show me whats what whilst he has the car in so I will eventually follow this up with another reply on here for you yamr6 and anyone else who might be following this. thanks again to you all, info is money saved! idling problems? help
Hi there Sean, Sounds like you have a similar problem to me.. Mine is slightly different but could be related to the same underlying cause. Have a look at my post: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=80724 Hope this helps if only to show another angle on the problem.. PeteH

Idle Speed
What happens is when you put it in any gear from Park the revs drop to almost nil and theres a rapid clicking noise of a relay from behind/under the drivers side dash - when this does happen which is only now and then as of yesterday the engine will almost definatly stall unless i give a bit of throttle - once it did recover on its own and was fine untill i came to start it up again today. I spoke to Luke from ZCenter who chatted to me for a wile about various different things that it could be and he eventually put me onto a Jeff from another well know company(forgot the name just now), Jeff mentioned about vacuum leaks and electrical connectors and is sending me a compiled list of things to check - must say here that both guys where helpfull beyond question. I will post back here tommorow after i have done another 110 miles to work and had a look at this info and done some checks. In the mean time I thank all for reading my post and giving me advice. catch you later ... Pete

Idle Speed
Just been out to move the car and now its cutting out when selecting a gear from Park, had a quick look at the oil levels and all is well, looked at the yellow plug from the temp sensor and although the metal clip is missing it still functions ok - I pulled the plug off and the fan came on, put plug back and fan went off. Getting quite concerned now as over 100 miles from home! Cant find any threads on here with the same issue, has anybody seen this before and found the cause of the problem?

Idle Speed
Just done 110miles to work and went through £20 worth of V-Power @ 97.9p a litre, during traffic jams I put the autobox into N and noticed my revs are at 1300 - 1400rpm. I remember reading somewhere on here that it should be about 750rpm - is this right? Also at the same time as noticing the revs being high I was shocked to see my Oil Pressure guage reading almost zero! again I remember reading somewhere that other people reported the same reading and that it might just be the pressure guage itself but mine does read around 60psi when started from cold but drops away to the first marking on the guage when reaching normal operating temperature. Would any of you budding enthusiasts be able to advise me please as I am now worried to death almost! Cheers - Pete UK TT Auto
