  1. Yeh, sounds like the cheaper option is for UK spec. Insurance companies will never take responsibility for any mistakes if they can help it, I should know, I work for one!
  2. Another year paid up, cheers :smw:
  3. Hi guys, I still haven't really decided what to do although putting an ad up on the site seems sensible. Everyone who has seen the 'damage' is staggered that it was written off but when you realise the insurers valued my baby at £1270 it's not suprising that a few new bits add up to more than the car is supposedly worth :headvswal I would 100% keep it if my commute wasn't as long as it is, maybe a change of job is in order :)
  4. Ok, well, if anybody wants to have an estimate to how much my car is worth now feel free to post.
  5. It would break my heart to strip it as it drives so well. Maybe I could stick an ad up on this site and see what interest it generates but I don't know how much I could get as it's now a category C write off. Mind you the more I think about it the more i'm tempted to keep it! :slap:
  6. Hi guys, it's been a while since I called in but i've been in Oz for the past 3 months backpacking! Anyway, before I left the UK my Zed (see below for spec) was hit by a slow moving lorry. The only damage is the paint on the front bumper and the panel between the headlights is crumpled. There is no other damage. It took 3 months for the insurance company to write it off and a (small) cheque is now in the post for me. They are allowing me to keep the zed. So my situation is this, i'm skint after travelling and I am doing low paid temp work with a 30min motorway commute do I a) keep the zed using my pay out money to repair it and keep it well serviced, b) chuck it on ebay and get what I can for it, c) sell it for parts? The obvious answer from Zed owners would be to keep it but a 3 litre automatic isn't ideal for winter commuting for someone in my financial situation right now
  7. The lorry driver wont allow me to avoid a claim (nothing in it for her!), so I guess it's just a waiting game. I'll have to see if 1) they will sell it back to me and 2) if it's worth my while. As i've said it's a fantastic everyday car, in great condition but there seems to be no market for them anymore. To top it all i'm off travelling a week today until xmas so I have to sort all this from 12,000 miles away!
  8. As you say Craig David there is a huge difference between genuine nissan parts and what we can get hold of second hand. My old mazda needed a new bumper after being driven in to, I replaced it for £50 but the insurance companies garage estimated £900!!!!! The cost of 2 headlights, the panel between them and a resprayed bumper could soon add up to most of the cars value. :headvswal Still worried but thanks for the support guys.
  9. A lorry has just reversed into the front of my car :nono: . The damage isn't too bad to look at - the bumper seems to just need a respray, both headlights have marks but neither are cracked and the worse bit is the panel between the headlights which is dented and badly scratched. I think it could be repaired by myself for £100ish but I will be claiming off the lorry drivers company insurance (no chance of a cash in hand deal). My question is, will the insurance company just write off the car? It's a lovely daily driven N/A LWB import G-plate but only worth about £2-2.5K at a guess. I'm a bit worried, especially as a lot of insurance companies don't want to sell written off cars back to you anymore  I will try and take a few pics later Cheers Russ
  10. Check out the company website http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/ Their latest creation is doing the rounds setting all sorts of production car speed records. Very impressive. The Ultima has been around for ages and was famously used as a test bed for various bits of the Maclaren F1.
  11. This site had some useful tips on it: http://www.businessballs.com/curriculum.htm :smw:
  12. Well done commitee and cheers chef
  13. Hi BigDave, i'm from the 'port too. Welcome to the club. I'm afraid I take my car over the border too. :smw:
