if i was to get a playstation 3, how would i go about getting online gaming started, how much does it cost and do i need to buy an online compatible game

get yourself a router if youve not already got one, preferably one with one or more sockets for ethernet cable as although the PS3 has a wireless connection, you'll get better speeds through a cable (which should come with the PS3). thats all you need really. create a profile on the playstation, buy a game you like the look of, whack it in and select 'i want to kick everyone in the world's ass' (and then cry when you get your own ass handed to you! :D )

almost all games have some sort of online capability. fighting games, footie, driving, shooters, you name it

nothing extra. all youre paying for is your normal internet fees and the purchase of the router if you dont have one. the only online games that charge (usually monthly) tend to be the MMORPGs (massively-multiplayer online role-playing games) like Eve or World of Warcraft (which are PC only I believe)

i bought one the other day and its awsome matey driving prologe gt5 against others on the net or on metal gear solid easy to hook up to the net as its wireless im fastredz34 username if u fancy a race matey

As 'SkylineDave' says.. Simple, just plug an ethernet cable in the back of your PS3, whack in a game (get Call of Duty 4.. very fun game :)) and off you go. Most modern games have online gameplay of some sort incorporated.

 

Just to let you know, if you were being swayed more towards the Xbox 360, that DOES cost for online gameplay. You have to pay microsoft about £40 for online gameplay with them.
