dipone
how good of a picture is it. i have seen it shown in shops and on a sky truck in Wrexham and the picture looked as cr@p as normal sky, they have an offer on ATM for £75 i was thinking of getting it but i'm not impressed with what i have seen so far
groover
Sky alone through a HD tv looks crap, but Sky HD with the HD box is a 1000 times better and although there are only a dozen or so HD channels at the minute, They look amazing ie: HD discovery channel, underwater coral etc is superb. The rest of the channels are really cleaned up with the HD box compared to the old sky box. I tried to type as many HD's as poss lol
paulbrem
Big differance when switching inbetween sky one and sky one HD. With a good tv connected with HDMI.

I thought any difference in picture would be due to the HD-TV (as in 'filtering' the image)? Not trying to pull you up, just interested as i'm about to buy a screen and can't decide whether to go for sky HD or not!!
dipone
the tv i saw it on was a sony bravia and the sky man said the poor picture was due to the tv
groover
The poor picture you will see on a HD tv with normal sky or ariel pics are due to the fact that the pixel quality of the television is so high that it emphasises the poor signal sent to it. The sky HD box converts the definition to a higher ratio so that it appears to be better quality and the HD channels available on sky at the minute are top notch quality. You must use a HDMI cable to connect the box to the TV, but if you get it fitted by an installer, they will set it up for you. Also one big difference when you see the HD tv's in curry's for instance, they play a blue ray disc theough it, so it looks amazing and helps sell the tele. I bought a 32" samsung hdtv and when i got it home and plugged everything in the usual way ie: scart, i thought the picture was pants. So after a long conversation with someon that new what they were on about, i decided to go for the sky hd digbox and never looked back. Berrica
I can't understand why people buy a nice big flat screen TV and then watch council telly on it. I have had the Sky HD box since it came out and would never go back, as for the lack of channels I have the full Sky package and quite often can't find anything me and the wife can agree on watching anyway. According to the adds there are meant to be 6 new HD film channels starting this month on Sky!!

wsnuk
I have the Sony Bravia 40inch hd and wasnt very impressed with the picture until I actually watched something designed for high definition. BIG difference.
8ace
I also have a bravia with the hd box. I'm too tight to subscribe to the hd channels and bought my own box to get just the free ones. Channel 4 hd and bbc hd which are awsome. It was only slightly more than the normal sky+ box with twice the hard drive size.

groover
looked like from the back of the box straight into the TV. ythe tv did look an old one TBF If you have a HD tv that utilises hdmi cable, then go to the button on your remote control that gives you the input options ie: TV- AV1- AV2- HDMI. If you find the hdmi dedicated channel, you will notice a big difference.
