The guide was great till it got to the "dont skimp on liquid gasket".Liquid gasket is great stuff but has to be applied correctly.large beads on joints can come adrift inside an engine and block oil ways causing seizure.:wack:

look forward to it the more you know the better!:)

dan.

It was pretty informative as far as reassembly goes, but does not help you out with actually building a bottom end and cylinder heads.

There is quite a bit of work to get to that stage and critical that you get it right. If you've built a cr@p bottom end, no matter how much nice stuff you bolt on, it's still gonna be cr@p.

There's a lot of skill in honing bores, fitting piston rings, fitting shells, bolting up big ends (I use loctite as well on these nuts BTW) & mains.........

Then we got the cylinder heads. Renewing all the valve stem seals, lapping in valves, reassembling 24x valves, springs retainers 48x collets... etc etc :p

It can be done, you should never be afraid. Just go about it methodically and understand what needs doing and why.

Also, retro620, a spare engine is the best thing to have. You can build it at your leisure and do a swapover one weekend. Then you don't forget what pipe goes where and what wire plugs into what :D

cylinder heads are easy, I am giving the bottom end to a good engine place for boring and honing, probably gonna have the block and crank frozen as well.

Who is actually going to assemble the pistons, rings, rods, beatings etc etc?

Knife edge? Not sure. Maybe if you want the last couple of HP yes. ;)

ill put together a beating anytime fella...lol

i will do it myself, been around engines for years and am a aircraft engineer so it shouldnt be beyond me, done a couple of cvh rebuilds previously

by the way i do know about setting up the endgap if needed but i could do with knowing what ring land clearance i should be looking for on wisecos, just in case its wrong

Dude you're an engineer (like me). You wont go far wrong. ;)

Just be mega carefull of the shell bearings, they're so soft your fingernail will damage them.

Oh, and use plenty of oil :D
