What can these private clamping companies do? My landlord has allocated them to be able to clamp or fine cars parked outside where I live unless issued with a pass and he is being a knob and only issued me with one pass, but knows Dave comes round and parks there as well as my family n other friends, well so far Dave has had 2 fines of £100 each on 2 diff cars...its a complete joke...can they make these fines stick? Been bloody checking all evening and didnt see the sneaky twats so they must have been parked around the corner, hiding there van:rolleyes:

Cheeky sods. only doing it to get more cash from people, why wont he issue you with another pass, as a majority of folks have 2-3 cars in a family.

I would get onto Trading standards.

However ive been in same situ, but at the time my van was clamped by an illegal clamper in Brighton, he wouldnt remove it no matter what i said or the person who had let me park in their bay (gave me their permit, to do some plumbing)

So out comes the 14" petrol cutter and then warned him, that if he didnt remove it i defo would. He called the police, and landed up getting knicked for a warrant issue and section 5 public order act.

So i just left the clamp on the side of the bay in a pile lol :x:

I have asked my landlord but he wont, he being awkward. Well they havent clamped anyone yet but I think Dave would do exact same as you if they do..its just a pain cos my friends are worried bout parking there and there is nowhere else to park

The Land has to belong to the landlord, and there must be clear signage, at a height which is easy enough to spot etc.

Then as long as the clamping men are Licensed by the SIA (Security Industry Authority), then your Land lord is within his rights to restrict parking, sorry.

Will check the sign later, so if it has that written on it does that mean they can make the fines stick? Cos Dave has ripped them up

Yes, but its a civil, not a criminal matter, your landlord, would have to persure the money through the civil court if Dave doesnt pay.

Guidelines for Clampers:

What to do if you get clamped on private land:

* Ask to see the clamper’s licence. If they don’t have one, report them to the SIA on 08702 430 100. If they won’t release your car you should contact the police.

* If they do have a licence, ensure you know the name of the person or organisation to whom you are paying the release fee and obtain a written receipt.

* If you feel that the licensed clamper you have dealt with has behaved in an inappropriate way, you should take the matter up with them. However if they fail to resolve your complaint, you may have a case in civil law against them. You should contact your local Citizen’s Advice Bureau or Trading Standards Officer.

* If the clamper causes damage to your vehicle, complain to the police.
