well it finaly happend! I had a major crash and the 300 is no more. or at least I think it is! Just waiting the ins company to pick it up now should be here in the next 30 mins and only had the crash last night :o impressed with the service so far thought they would fart about getting an assessor to look at it.

As for pics, see below! and as for what happend, well the back end broke away and i applied opisit lock, and cought it, then she whiped the other way, cought that and over cooked it and spun her 180 in the middle of the M25 in rushhour into a artic in lane 1 with the second axel of the artic driving over the front and then the back of the zed slaming into the same wheel on the artic

Thanks Guys am all ok but still sore. still not heard from ins co. they are taking their time with it. so still have no car rental till they do agree its a write off. (have the extra cover) still no need now as the in-laws lent me the cash to get another car, picked up a nice Volvo 850 T5 :) and goes like stink!

Just got 'the call' and first offer was 1300 minus my excess of 350, now do i take this or hold out for more? they said this was based on lower milage cars then mine 60k on them, am sure mine was less then that!

I would hold out for more, get some adverts of cars for the price you think you should be getting and send them to them.

I rejected two offers on one of my old cars before accepting.

that seems a very low offer to me. tell them to try buying one for the money they have offered. i doubt they will find one.

Yep I did, first thing he said was do i have a figure in mind and i said no. said i would take a look and see what i can find, he said to find 3 examples :) so been looking on pistonheads some nice ones there. :) also he was looking around 60k miles cars am sure mine was half that, know it was stupidly low mileage as it never whent anywhere lol. will check when i get home.

Never accept the first offer, They expect you to refuse it.

very low offer hold out and put ur examples in like said u couldnt buy one for that i accepted third offer on a car once as had agreed valuation so waited till they offered somthin close to that

Thanks mate, am all ok so thats a plus, gutted about the car though, all that hard work etc, oh well have a new toy now, Volvo 850 T5 - not as fast as the 300 but its a real wolf in sheeps clothing :)

What a bunch of W*****S they are, just got an email saying they will not increse the quote! and need to respond within 7 days. any ideas on this? can they do that? can make more from telling them i want car back and breaking it myself.

if i was you i would ring the ombudsman up and get them on the case if thats all they have offered you. i had this problem years ago with an insurance company. at the time the book value was £1300, they sent me an interim check for £850, then said thats what they are going to pay me. i rang the ombudsman up & i got a check the week after for the remainder. dont take their word for it and let them tell you, you tell them, and tell them you will ring ombudsman if they dont sort something better out.

ah looks like they fooked up as after i got the email saying thats all they were offering i got a text saying to call then and they said nope was a mistake and here is a check for 2500 :o so not to bad then i guess.

I sent loads of good ad's in from piston heads and got 5k for mine bought it back for £850 repaired it for £1400 with full respray, sorted :)
