Fellow Zedders

As of Thursday the wife and I will be taking our freshly painted £100 Astra and attempting to get from Wales to Croatia in 4 days!! So you guessed it this message is to try and raise loads of money!! it's all for a good cause and I don't get a penny…. Honest! If everyone donates just a couple of quid then that's gonna add up to a lot of help for a lot of people!

I have attached a pic of the car for all too see and the lamp even works!! Some of you may think it's my new daily drive but No, you would be wrong lol….. To say I'm a little nervous about taking it around 1800 miles is an understatement seeing as the car has broken down 4 times in the last month, not the greatest reliability record :-) but we're going to give it a go…. Might just be hitching some of the way is all!! There's a blog running if your interested in following further at http://encephalitis-ramshackle.blogspot.com/

Encephalitis is a little known illness but still affects many people one of which happened to be my Mum about 2 years ago and as of yet she has not fully recovered, that’s how much help sufferers need! Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain. The inflammation is caused either by an infection invading the brain (infectious); or through the immune system attacking the brain in error (post-infectious / autoimmune encephalitis).

It's a very worthwhile cause that gets very little support so every penny helps and every penny raised will go to the charity.

To give to the charity online the site to visit is http://www.justgiving.com/christopherjohnson2

Thanks in advance

Chris (with the pearly whitey) and Mel (The crazy wife who agreed to these antics!)

not a good start!! anyone know why an Astra might not want to go into reverse!

We're leaving tomorrow

Good luck mate - a great cause. My wife suffered from this when she was in her early teens and it was very serious. She came through it fine though, fortunately.

Don't know what you mean about that reliability record though - four times in the last month is FANTASTIC when you're used to a Z ;)

Cheers matey, glad to hear your wife got through it well, lot of people don't seem to be so lucky!!

On the reliability side of things tho I wouldn't try to take my zed to croatia lol!!

Thanks mate, and I hope your mum is fully recovered soon. Joey suffered from viral encephalitis caught from someone that just happened to walk up to the front door (to ask for help because she was feeling ill!) Apparently it was touch and go for a while, but she survived.

Of course, now, I can take the pi$$ about it explaining a lot, being a human form of mad cow disease ;) (i.e BSE, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy for you lot that don't know!)
