Hey guys and girls

What is the recomended wheel width on a non wide arch car? Mine has big Ksports calipers and disks so do I definately need 18's or qill 17's do?

Cheers

8.5 front with 9.5 rear is a popular choice. Any wider and you risk problems with clearances.

nope. A 330mm kit will fit under "some" 17's , but recomended 18's, so I would imagine you would have a very hard time finding 17's to fit the 350mm kit.

The spoke design and offset plays a big part in which wheels will fit. Some 18's wont fit either.

Legrath,

I have 17' three (double) spoke Super Advans - there seems to be quite a bit of clearance on the stock calipers but how can I work out what the biggest brakes/discs I can fit under there is? Is there a table somewhere or will I have to measure or is it just trial and error?

And does anyone know if I get new Front Calipers can i fit the stock ones to the back wheels without too much hassle?

I am a complete Brake novice!!

Defineately agree, i have 18s on mine and i have fitted k-sport 8-pot with 330mm disks and there really is'nt that much room left, as when i measured the INSIDE of the wheel its closer to 17"!!!

I would hold out for some 18s if i were you bud. HTH :)

a lot of 18" wheels struggle to clear 355mm kits too, depends on the spoke design.

I was thinking about moving to 18ins but wondered if the wheel arches were rolled what width rim I could go to. Any one tried it.

It all Depends on offset. Quite a few running 9" front and 10" rears with rolled arches.

Something else to bear in mind is that the normal spare wheel (space saver) will no longer fit the front wheels after a big brake upgrade, so buy an extra front rim when getting your new set.

Thanks, something to think about in the future when my present 17in tyres are worn down.
