can anyone recomend a good fast HD .

not sure i want to pay loads for a Ratpor drive, but looking for around 150gb

what is the difference between SATA and SATA II

Featured Replies

Cache wont make it feel any faster to the average user. SATA1 is 1.5GB/S and SATA2 is 3GB/S. You can pick up an "older" raptor for £90 the new velcoraptor drive are about £120

Yes it's worth moving to a X64 based system if your current architecture is X64

and more expensive and you'll need a controler

yeah, but never mentioned price, just a fast one. i use a 15k one as C drive & got 3 x 10k in pc for storage. i would never go back to any other type now.

Jesus scsi aren't cheep, is there any way i can copy programmes from one drive to another, just i've not got some of the install discs, and wanted to do a frsh install on a new drive

you can copy the whole drive as an image over to a new drive so it instantly works. but if you want to install a fresh copy of windows then you will need the software discs for whatever you want to install. or, if you have the setup program which youve downloaded to your pc, then put it on disc before removing.

WOW I didn't realise they still used SCSI drives!

My mate used to use them years ago, but I've lost touch with him now :(
