Anyone have any idea how dealers come up with valuations for private plates?

 

I've had mine valued by RegTransfers at £2500- a good increase on what I bought it for 5 yrs ago. Mine is C 13 ELL ( C BELL)

 

On their site thay have several similar plates on offer

 

H 130 OTH ( H BOOTH) under £2k

 

C 130 OTH & D130 OTH at £17,495.

 

Booth may or may not be a more common surname than Bell but there seems to be no logic as H 130 OTH is worth less than C 13 ELL and mine is a number shorter!!

 

Any thoughts?

you may find that they are like cars. only worth what someone is prepared to pay for them. the pricing on plates is getting out of hand really, and where they get some of these prices, like what youve put, i dont know.
