Am thinking of going to an Irish meet.

http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=1116812#post1116812

Was just wondering if anyone knows the best route to take, Liverpool or Holyhead. Dublin or Dun Laoghaire.

The chaepest ferry I have found so far is norfolkline.

Am also wondering if it would be cheaper from liverpool in the long run as it is 80 miles closer to me, so less fuel.

jeez darrell i didnt realise you were serious, as a pioneer ney the 1st to cross the water to a meet you shall be showered with guinness,

ferries have you tried irish ferries.com the ulysses which is the cruise ship is very luxurious and if you upgrade to club class you get priority boarding/embarking and free drink and food on the journey, no point in me checking the fares as they would be in euro, also stena line

dublin port is basically in dublin city, and about 20/25 miles from mondello

dun laoighre is about 10 miles south of the city but you can get to the meet by an outer ring road(m50)

if you do decide to book just let me know your travel times etc and i will organise a welcome, advice on good cheap hotel deals etc, the good shopping centres (for your wife) and anything else you need to know

Holyhead is 80 miles further.

Have got the ferry down to £140 ish, Birkenhead to Dublin.

Holyhead to Dublin, whilst much shorter ferry time, is over 200.

Seems to work out better all round to go from Liverpool as I will be able to drive there after night shift and get my head down on the ferry, hopefully.

Just need a hotel in Dublin now.

Watch this space.

Good stuff, came back on the Liverpool ferry when i bought my zed in England, truckers boat really but nice cabins and food, slept the whole journey home :)

No shortage of Hotels in Dublin city and suburbs some reasonably priced ones, let us know where your thinking of staying

how long does it take and how steep are the ramps?

thinking of doing the same thing but worried my Griff will get grounded :(

ramps should be ok lots of the lads from here go over to santa pod etc in all types of modded cars and dont have a problem, if you take it easy and go kinda sideways, when we went over it was just like going into a multi story car park.

@darrell getting a hotel depends on what you like, city centre with lots of night life(but very few have car parks) outside the city, but still near decent pubs etc, there is a nice one on the naas rd called the louis fitzgerald, newly built with an underground car park, also the green isle hotel also on the naas rd, it has pool and leisure centre, and good car park both of these are usually about 89euro per room (x2pps) per night and are on the right side for dave and myself and meet, also city west hotel on the naas rd it has a golf club and leisure centre

2 people thinking:D almost a convoy

City west looks good. Had seen that one already. The other 2 look good but are a bit steep.

So that will be the ferrry and the hotel, when I book them that is.

Now for a nice sea food restraunt. Found this one.

Not really a sea food but looks nice.

Any other ideas?

personally i never heard of that restaurant, but i will check it out, google johnny foxes pub glencullen in the dublin mountains, highest pub in irl, very good seafood menu, also has music and irish dancing every night, or restaurants in howth which is a fishing village in north dublin basically straight from boat to table, ivans restaurant has a good rep and does an early bird special.

Wrights out in Howth are supposed to be really nice, i not a fan of seafood but from my night time adventures there always seems to be a lot of people outside Wrights....also the one at the end of the pier is always busy but dont know the name will have to check that out!
