nope that was much later

The first Turbo-Diesel truck was produced by the "Schweizer Maschinenfabrik Saurer" (Swiss Machine Works Saurer) 1938. The turbocharger hit the automobile world in 1952 when Fred Agabashian qualified for pole position at the Indianapolis 500 and led for 100 miles (160 km) before tire shards disabled the compressor. The first production turbocharged automobile engines came from General Motors in 1962. The A-body Oldsmobile Cutlass Jetfire and Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder were both fitted with turbochargers. The Oldsmobile is often recognized as the first, since it came out a few months earlier than the Corvair. Its Turbo Jetfire was a 215 in³ (3.5 L) V8, while the Corvair engine was either a 145 in³ (2.3 L)(1962-63) or a 164 in³ (2.7 L) (1964-66) flat-6. Both of these engines were abandoned within a few years, and GM's next turbo engine came more than ten years later.

No, read the question carefully ;)

Edited by Lamp Shader

1905 - Dr Alfred J Büchi (Swiss Engineer) files the first turbocharger patent and so begins the turbo era

1920 - The LePere bi-plane with turbocharger sets new altitude record of 33,113 feet

Well...

If your calling supercharging and Turbo charging the same thing (they achieve a similar goal but through a different method of course) the first forced induction engine in a car was 1885 by Gottlieb Daimler.

Now, the other posibility is some sort of steam turbine based car? but im not sure there was ever anything. Am i getting closer?

pre internal combustion as in external combustion? I.e a steam engine?

Pre that is basically a horse, and i dont think you can force feed those!

That would be supercharged - and from the 1930's!

Im truely stumped, cant be anything diesel as it wasnt invented until the 1880's and it cant be a steam turbine as the first practical steam turbine was in 1884 and only used to generate electricty and in ships up until the 1940's
