Hey, lets see, road tax at the moment is €1231 being left hand drive I'm not sure how easy it'll be to get insurance, will prob be a case of needing to ring around, try QuinnDirect, Hibernian..... do a google search for irish car insurance, as it's your own car i don't think you'll need to pay any registration tax, so thats a good thing (currently 36% of market value) any other qs ask away

In relation to what dave has said above....once you have owned the car for six months and can prove you didnt buy the car with the intention of moving to ireland then no vrt will need to be paid!

as he said about tax and vrt, insurance can be a bit more difficult, when i got mine only ins co. to insure me were quinn direct, now i am with axa for 750euro fully comp. its possible there will be a loading for lhd,

Got my insurance off Britton Insurance in Donegal who are brokers and for fully comp am insured for 553 euro. May be higher due to lhd but its worth a call.

Road tax so expensive!!?? in Spain it´s 170euros annual!!

tell us about it:( even my wifes old 2ltr volvo is over 500eur for the year. you can tax your z for 3 months for around 320euro let it run into 5 or 6 months, depending if you are moving to a rural area so the chances of being stopped are minimal, then say it was off the road for a few months and do the same again. it's risky, but it's insane to fork out that much in one go considering the age of the cars.

btw, the actual fine for no road tax here is around 60 euro. Do the math lol!

let the guys know when you arrive, I'm sure we'll have a meet or something

60euro fine but in dublin they will take the car and then you have to pay 140euro a night and they wont let you take the car until you produce the slip to say tax has been paid for!

Yep that's true, they do that if it's over 2 months out of date. It depends on the police officer , some are OK ,some are...you know!
