SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH £5.00

 

ON THE WAY THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT £5.00 EVENLY BETWEEN 3 MEN,

SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A £1.00 AND KEPT THE OTHER £2.00 FOR HIMSELF.

 

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID £9.00 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF £27.00, ADD THE £2.00 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = £29.00

refund of 30-3= 27

 

the bell boy kept £2 which takes the room price down to 27-2 = £25

 

so you shouldn't be adding the 2 you should be subtracting it

i didnt read hellraiser's but i finally worked it out!! - i was worried there cos i work for a bank!!!

if they're owed £5 between them, but only get £1 each, then they're out of pocket by 66p each. so the calculation isnt from £27 up to £30, its from £27 down to £25 and there's your £2 difference! great teaser though!
