I need to get teh car round the corner to my mechanic, but it wont start and the gearbox is fooked.

it is literally round the corner..... why dont you ring the AA and say the car wont start and have it towed to the nearest garage, which is where u want it anyways :D

He must be a strong lad if he's gonna pull the car all the way there. Why not find another friend who has a car that you can tie the rope to :)

Much safer to use a solid bar. They are very cheap to buy if you dont have one.

Agreed! Machine Mart sell a solid one for about £10 or one with a spring in the middle for about £25. Me and my dad buy alot of salvage cars and we tow them with the £25 one, we must of towed about 25 cars before it broke and that was our own fault. They really are superb, we get upto 40mph no probs, and obviously much safer. :)
