Hi,

ins' on these cars is a variable subject! example: my premium is £520 pa,fully comp & protected. But its got no mods that I know of - will be advised on the 1st of April by others, no claims or points in last 7 years (lucky I suppose)BUT I had to produce a NEW certificate of a cat 1 alarm fitted, even if the old one was a cat one!!! £490

Every time it goes in for work at a garage I have to remove code from the car, list the garage and don't give them the buttons only the key.

And keep the car garaged at night, the exsess I will pay is £350 if the car is nicked, Even so any damage to the 'Z' whilsed trying to be nicked is not covered.

As you can see these cars are too much fun, too fast, too desireable and too wanted. This was the best quote I had, A-plan Hemel Hempstead. If others have had better deals, the'll let you know.

Thanks a lot Harve,

spot the new boy...

I feel like a bit of an idiot as I've spent last hour or three (I can't seem to leave)looking at older posts and see that insurance is always being questioned...and answered.

Good if there was a search engine for topics or pages for popular topics.

I noticed earlier that people were suggesting taing out Traders insurance ? is this allowed and advisable, seems too good to be true. £450 for £10K cover ? ? ?

see '2 cars on one policy' posted 12-02-01

James,

Speak to Firebond on 08704 440556, they do a limited mileage policy of 6,000 miles/year with a company called Groupama. They were the cheapest I found approx 405pds. Some people found cheaper (ring some of the companies on the past posts on Insurance).

(Make sure you get fitted a Thatcham approved immobiliser as that makes a difference on what you get quoted.)

Firebonds web site is

http://www.firebond.co.uk and they can give you an online quote now.

I have just checked out FireBond and I must say....WoooHooooo.......

£421.56, never thought I would see the day when I could get insurance on a 300Z that cheap, beats my best qoute by £400 and the excess is £200 pound cheaper too....

I would recommend FireBond Insurance to everyone that owns a Z that doesn't already have a policy with them.

Well that's enough praise from me...Oh and Thanks George!!

Matty, Now £400 better off.. :o)

Nice one geezer, just got a fantabulous quote, was quoted 780 with my last company :-(

Now quoted 385.50 with 700 quid audio cover, unlimited windscreen cover and 350 excess...ker.....ching!!! Dollars in the ISA already!

Would have been 433.00 with 250 excess...lovely jubbly! DIAMOND!

Timmy Turbo....Mr Ker.....Ching....!

:o)

Nice feeling isn't it, A cheap Insurance quote!!!

Wonder how I can spend that extra £400 pound I will save.....

Beer? Fast Women?....

Matty.

Make sure the insurance co. know if it is an import car, as many wont touch imports!

Matty,

Another sat. customer, just got my Bro a quote for his Renault Alpine GTA, 400 quid or thereabouts, he chuffed too now, was quoted between 7 and 800 from someone else, Norwich Union I think. Firebond...we luv ya!!!

Tim

Are Firebond bothered about mods and imports and all the other excuses for putting the premium up ? And who is the underwriter ?

Andy

Just got off the phone to firebond and they have insured my Z on their modern classic policy fully comprehensive self and spouse,(6000mls) ..£405.26.. thats nearly £300 cheaper than my current renewal.

1990 TT Import with mods , Exhaust ,Air filter, also covered my wheels

Paulr

I was told that they dont insure import 300zx's under the classic insurance scheme only UK cars

Trev

the guy I spoke to said that he did not think it would be a problem I will confirm it all when I get my policy ,should be posting it off to me today

Groupama and firebond, a match made in heaven, well I'll be thinking that when I'm lying on a beach having spent the £400 I saved on a trip to Ibiza........Bring it on!!

Women, Beer, Sex, Clubs, Pubs........What do you mean it's not for another 14 weeks?? :o(

I went through their online quote malarky and it came up with around £630-ish. And I'm an old-ish git with a clean licence, living in a reasonable area with no mods, low-ish mileage, CAT-1 alarm etc etc. This is about £70 dearer than Admiral who I use now.

Maybe the secret is to call them and work the 'classic' story ....

  • 2 weeks later...

I've just tried getting insurance through Groupama, but they don't insure Japanese imports. Can someone please recommend Insurers who do?

Thanks

I went through www.belldirect.co.uk who gave me a quote of £510 fully comp with my wife on it, I have full no claims and had to get a Cat 1 Approved Alarm and Immobiliser fitted, I ended up getting a Clifford, lovely system, anyway, £510 I thought was a bargain, it is all online and you then phone them.

dan

Thanks Dan, I'll give em a go...

Just been on to BellDirect: I'm 27 with 2 yrs no claims, car's garaged, Clifford Concept 300 protection, value £8000, and they still want £1900!!! This turns out to be dearer than Admiral!

Thanks anyway. Drew

Sorry about that, came up trumps for me, I am 28, have full no claims, no mods, Jap Import, sorry

Dan

No problem Dan, I should have known better - you're not allowed a decent motor if you live in Mancy Manchester without having to pay a fortune...

But they do do a good deal on stereos and hub cabs up there apparently !!! ;)

Firebond are really extracting the urine here!!! ;) Quote of £1547 - who are they kidding??? Best quote I got was £823 from Axa. Very impressed with their service as well! www.axamotor.co.uk is the link you need. Happy hunting everyone!!!
