i got a fujitsu from comet, its good for what i use it for plus our lass uses it for all her uni work i.e assignments and such, i'll get the model number when i get home if ya want Allan.

Toshiba are good and you can get them for around £400. Intel duo, wireless decent ram and hdd etc.

Just my bit, Id avoid pc world to be honest, They are able to sell so cheap as there is no manufacturers warranty on any of their laptops they provide their own which is a load of s**t to be honest unless you buy they're extra warranty, And dont go for an acer they are all pants and all break, we,ve gone through a few of them.........Try looking at this website http://http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/ You will get a much better laptop for your money....

We just bought this http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0623879736.1213635896@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdiadeeghmifemcflgceggdhhmdgml.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=950579&category_oid= on house insurance after our house got burgaled and bits stolen. I know the make aint great but for the money and it being a 17" wide screen, it does the job ;)

the 1 i'm working on now is a fujitsu AMILO if that makes any difference, it has windows vista and all the usual windows software, cd/dvd re-writer big memory, everything you need really and to top it off its fast.

I bought one for my daughter 3 years ago to go to college and its still going strong - an acer that is, but as with most things you get what you pay for but saying that a few years ago I bought a sony viao and I would never buy another

Personally I would go with a laptop with XP Pro on it although it is not the newest OS, most will come with vista now and from what we have found when we got one at work you will need a fast laptop to handle vista any good.
