ireland says no to the lisbon treaty

ireland had a vote yesterday to ratify the lisbon treaty, we were the only country of the 27 member countries of the eu to put the vote to the people all others countries their governments decided to say yes, the reason we had a vote is because it was very strongly written into our entry to the eu back in 1973 that ALL changes to our constitution had to voted on by the irish people

the reasons we seemed to say no were the treaty was too vague on things like conscription, euthanasia, abortion, nuetrality, taxes, and in general taking a lot of power from individual govenments and giving it to brussels

the result is not official yet, but i wonder what will happen now as the treaty needs a yes from all countries to proceed, im listening that your government is going to say yes next week, but in 18 months if the conservatives get in they will pull out

when the concervatives get in it wont be a moment too soon as far as the EU is concerned.

Is it a when though?

Lets not forget the British public have short memories. I wouldnt altogether rule Bullshitter Brown and his gang of suited morons from holding position just yet in the next election.

I hope to God they are pushed out with a bloody large vote!

I think going on the local elections and how many key seats they lost they are in for a right royal reality check. In fact I read in one pf the papers on monday that the LIB/Dems are for the first time in ages in with a realistic chance of comming second.

its now a definite no, it will be interesting to see what happens next, will they try kick us out, or at the very least punish us somehow,

i wouldnt mind up till now we have been good little europeans and taken everything up the a.. that europe has sent us, but this was a step too far,

we were to accept a treaty that was jst a lot of amendments to all previous treaties and even our politicians admitted to they couldnt understand:headvswal
