Many of us have had expensive problems after purchasing a Z that seemed great on a test drive.

There is a buying FAQ at http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm

As well as the advice in the FAQ I would take along a specialist mechanic to check the car out. I know JeffTT (Zedworld) offers this service and I think some of the others are likely to as well.

If there are no Z guys in Gloucester to have a look with you, have you had a look at this:

http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm

This sounds like a secondhand dealer - how come no warranty?

The guys on here were looking into purchasing warranties themselves, have you looked into that? I replaced many parts under warranty in the first year I had my Z(Up to a £1000 per claim limit).

Whats the history like?

Are there lots of invoices for replacement parts etc?

Sorry to hear about your mate - lack of previous maintenance can catch up with later owners and bite you in the ass!

Like Craig said on the 200SX board:

thing to remember is when they were released, they were a £30k+ japanese supercar, and some things are still expensive to fix, the same as if you buy a 10 year old ferrari, maserati etc.

Good luck mate,

Trev

Hi Chris

No warranty and a newbie could be a recipe for disaster or you could be lucky and get a rock solid car.

One option is to purchase your own warranty, if you need help with this I can supply 12 months Gold on a zed underwritten by one of the largest companies in the UK provided it has an inspection by ourselves.

Shorter 3 months warranties are available at less cost and can be added to any of our normal service cost`s this applies to any time AFTER you have bought the car also.

This by the way is a genuine reply to your question so please do not feel it was in any way meant to attract custom to our workshop just advice, you are free to go to anyone you wish.

Good Luck Jeff TT

Many thx for your help lads i really do appreciate it

Jeff have u recived my email ?

Sure have Jeff TT

Listen, Chris, with a spot of luck (and help from experienced forum members) you could end up with the best value GT sports on the planet. Yes, there are some dogs and abused motors to trap the unwary - but keep your fingers crossed for a good 'un.

There isn't a better car or better value. IMHO, the fewer mods the less likely it's been abused.

Cheers & good luck - Gio

I am also selling if you are interested.

JeffTT services mine so you can quiz him about it if he doesn't mind. Jeff?

It's the one thats in for £6600 and is now around 400BHP rather than 350BHP due to a JWT chip upgrade since the advert.

Please don't ask me why I chipped it, seeing as I am selling it. I don't know the answer!

Chris, I own a 300ZXTT AND a 200SX, so ask me if you have any questions like What are the main differences between them.
