I see these all the time, flying around where I live, and I have been on a few during my 14 years in the Army, and they still amaze me at what a brilliant Helicopter they are, years old and still going strong.

Agreed, here are a couple that I had on my hard drive, the 2nd to last one ruined our afternoons fishing at Basrah Palace and the last one I took in Kandahar 3 1/2 years ago at sunset I used to have it in much larger resolution but lost it when my Laptop expired:headvswal. The first 3 are just random pics off of our "networked" HDD.

There aren't any out here any more (all in Afghan) but a couple of years ago at SLB they used to fly low and fast over our accommodation when they were taking casualties up to the hospital :(, it was never a good thing but the noise they make at full chat just a few feet over your head was something never to be forgotten.................................like the lads they were carrying :( :(

I saw one at an airshow last year (at the top gear race track ;)) and it was AMAZING it was nose diving, stall turning etc....the noise the thing made when on full shat was unbelievable

I will never forget getting on these beasts, the noise/downforce & exhausts were awsome....what a rush.

And when your queuing up to get on one standing in the full face of the exhausts and its 50 degrees outside already and your wearing full body armor and carrying all your kit for a job plus your overnight kit its even more unforgettable  give me a Merlin any day lol

Dude I have to say, the helecopter pics are good, but that blue sky is simply amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They can land in water too cant they

Yes they can land in water but they have to keep the rotors turning or it falls over.... they use them to put boats straight into the water. Land on water, lower the ramp and drive out of the back...

Absolute nightmare to keep them serviceable though, especially out in Afghanistan, still at least I get a suntan whilst doing it.
