I've just had the oil in my diff and gearbox changed. The garage followed the instructions in the service manual, but I have a problem now.

In the morning (or when the car is cold) it clunks into 1st and 2nd gear. Once warmed up it's no problem. This wasn't the case before, I bought the oil they put in - it was 80/90 ( the spec. is 80 for the gearbox and 90 for the diff.) so I made a compromise.

Any one had the same problem - or found a better oil to use in the gearbox. It's okay once warmed up, but a bitch to start with.

Just had my car done and yet again parted with another 700 quid 8-(

For your information (jerboa) they used Castrol Syntrax 75/90 for gearbox did not ask about rear diff.

See ya

Edmund old bean,

Please tell me that you haven't parted company with 7 large just for gearbox and diff oil change???

:-@

Thanks Eddie, I'm going to change it next week when I can get the car on some ramps.

Timmy,

Even I am not crazy enough to pay 700 quid for an oil change.

I had a cambelt change, new starter motor, engine oil change and filter, gearbox oil change, new fan belts.
