Something thats been running around my head for years is building my own kit car, from scratch not from a kit or someone elses design or anything. Designing my own chassis etc.

 

Dont care if it will pass an SVA test or not cos I'd just throw it on a track when i wanna use it.

 

What im thinking is mid/rear engine.

2 seats

300bhp ish

and very very light.

 

Dont care about how it looks, or even if its really crap to drive, just think it would be great fun to do.

 

At the mo I'm thinking MR2 Turbo as a donor car for engine etc. Any ideas you wanna throw in the pot of what I should use?

Use an MR2 supercharger, not a turbo. Friend of mine is building a Raw Striker at the moment.

I'd base it on a proper kit.

Making your own from scratch will never get on the road and probably be a nightmare to drive once you've spent half your life putting it together LOL

Yeah as I said im not fussed about passing the SVA or anything, and I dont care about how it will drive, if im that fussed i'd alter it after its built.

 

Just after ideas on good engines/running gear to use.

Two black bird engines with individual gear levers!!! one for front, one for rear

 

Change down a gear on the rear to drift :D
