ICE ICE BABY!?!?!?

OK I've got the car looking the way I wanted and running well so now I wanna sort the sounds out!

Can anyone help me out with a rear amp/speaker shelf and how you go about making one?

What's the best stuff to use MDF or Fantastic Plastic?

I bought some Rockford Fosgate speakers for my Captain Kirk but they never fit so I'm stuck with them.

What I'd like to do is replace the front and rears and maybe have the James Rockfords in a parcel shelf setup along with some bass mothers!

Any suggestions would be much appreciated boys and girls. wink.gif

TIA MARIA

Hmm you should have a look at what Mark H left in my garage last night. Better have a word with him, because I think some of it may be for sale.

Timmy,

Why bother with a parcel shelf or upgeading the rear speakers?? they're just for "rear fill". Spend your money on some nice front components and a nice amp. For bass, either get one of those JBL ones that are made for the 300 or make a sub enclosure yourself. Here's one I made earlier.......

Yeah nice but doesn't really flick my switch Vij...what I want what I really really want is something like Bob and Toolmeisters setup.

Now this rocks!

I'm designing a speaker enclosure which should be the dogs. The key thing is to anchor the speakers in place and absorb as much of the sound coming out the back of them using fibreglass and other sound absorbing materials. A proper enclosure will make the system a lot louder and improve the quality of the sound.

Rockford Fosgate speakers I have found to be superb.

If you're serious, I could maybe give you a hand/advice. I'm still researching my own project, but I've taken rear seats out - you probably don't want 2 do that ? If u did, I could perhaps build 2 enclosures (1 4 me & 1 4 u) for a small fee (& I do mean small).

Yes I would take the rear seats out Dave as to me they are nothing but wasted!

We shall discuss this next weekend my friend as I would be more than interested in seeing what you have planned. Very interested indeedy. wink.gif

Cheers mate

Hi Timbo,

I bought Stu984's system as a job lot and have no need for the rear Kenwood 12 Subwoofers and the rear install. Have a look at Stu's rides if you are interested and I am sure we can sort something out.I will probably be selling one of the amps as well!

All the Best,

Mark

Thanks Andy,

That is part of it, minus part of Andy's workbench, and painted garage floor, thanks for looking after it for me Andy.

There are the side panels with it,but you get a better idea of its aesthetics in Stu984's rides section.

It is an Improvement to any space, that is why Andy begged me to leave it in his garage!!

LOL

Mark

He he, if you don't collect it soon it could be installed in my car - I'm sadly lacking in any bass !

You are welcome, Timmy.

As our cars are identical in internal proportions, the measurements and designs should be totally transferrable. Making 2 will not take much more work than one. The materials will not be expensive. The main cost will be the speaker componets/amp(s)/head unit you choose. How much you spend there, is up to you. I will be willing to share any details with anyone on here when I have finished the project.

My design criteria are...best possible sound with minimum system mass at a reasonable cost.

I had an excellent system in my old Polo, and this system is gonna blow that one away. Most car stereo shops fit crap system setups in most people's cars - I had to modify my Polo setup after the shop left out the crossovers !

I have a £4-5,000 home audio system, so know a bit about quality sound. I also know some tricks with bitumen (I used to work with the stuff wink.gif). I am confident I can construct a quality car system. I may need help with wiring and the like tho' ! I'm not an electronics expert.

Speak 2 u next week about it over a beer or 2 !

CheerZ,

Dave.

i'll gladly let you have the panel cut out cover to make one if you want m8 or you can haggle with mr lack next yr when i change mine for a new design
