Should the South west be split into 2 smaller areas ?

Should the South west be split into 2 smaller areas ? :smash:

I know that some people make alot of effort and go a fair distance but most don't so this restricts the amount of people that attend. I personally don't mind doing a nice long drive every now and then.

But we could do a trial session and see how it goes because as far as i can see some people don't go to meets sometimes even when there outside their house !

Yes Bristol is this end but is still not above the M4, I organised the Halfords meets and the Ross meets with Kevin these are the only ones since Marcus did the ones at Frombridge Mill I belive. I belived the meets wer going to be distributed throughtout the area to give a rota, ie gloucester/ bristol/taunton/ plymouth. This would give everyone the ability to get at least upto 6 meets within traveling distance that is travel down/up one, and then one in your area, I dont thinl Lisa should have to travel 120 miles to get to a meet, and nor should enyone. A 30/40 mile travel would work out avarage if this had taken place.

It will be taking place...I have only done this job 5-6 months I havent finished planning yet, all these other events keep popping up which people are interested to attend, so I go with the majority and try and make good sized meets

I agree it could benefit with another Gloucester meet in there, but I dont think its as bad as you suggest. That is 3 out of 12 last year in that area and the next 2 meets are also in that direction of the region -

April's meet is Castle Combe (action day)

May's meet is also Castle combe (japfest)

There were only 2 in Somerset and Definatly not enough Cornwall meets.

There are 4 counties to cover in the region. 3 meets per region per year would be correct ratio.

I personally still dont see an issue with members arranging there own meets, or even the REO assisting to make the forum arrangements - it does'nt have to be 1 meet per month.

Wait for Junes meet, its in Le Mans,lmao:rofl::rofl:

Ye but need to compensate the Cornish too and why should us in the middle have to do all the travelling, all of the time? Not that I care in the slightest, have some great fun on the way:tongue:

Thats why the 4 way system works as we can all travel one up and one down, that gives access to atleast 6 meets a year within reasonable distance. By the way tis is not a mone just debating

i'm sorry but i agree with allan on this all the meets this end have been organised by allan or myself for around the last 2-3 years and i for one am another one pissed off and not renewing because of this i've lost interest in this club totally we used to have meets this end and we had some good meets but everything is moving south and as i have said before i have a heavy workload at the mo and do not have time to travel, not even to bristol, the last official 300zx meet locally to us was frombridge mill other meets this end were ross on wye 05 organised by allan and myself ross on wye 06 organised by me

and the two halfords ones jan 06 & jan 07 organised by allan plus the recent local friday night ones organised by allan which again i could not attend down to work

All those meets you mentionned (except for the recent local friday night ones) were Official 300zx meets ! Its just that you and Alan either volunterred to organise them as you knew the areas best or just took it apon yourselves to do it when the meets were suggested.

yes you guys are overdue a Gloucester meet, and in fairness there have been a lot down in Devon over the past year...but your still the next busiest area (Bristol and Gloucester) with Somerset and Cornwall getting the least....and barely any Gloucester members turn up to any of the bristol meets which is closer to you guys than nearly everybody else in the region yet everyone else travels much further to get to them.

You may be the exception there Kev as I know you live right out in the sticks and you've not had your car on the road and I know what that can do to your motivation for meets, but it applies to others

Should the South west be split into 2 smaller areas?

Thats up to the members that live in that area as they are the ones that have to travel to meets,I see no reason why this should not happen if thats what you want.

These 2 are not this end !

All this talk about no meets in peoples area's is pointless when nobody puts there name down for ones near them anyway

Precisely

Lets all just vote and go from there....

I voted yes to split as i think its current set up is unfair on the REO's. It seems in the SW you either live in the North of the Area or the south, with nobody in the middle. It means its really hard to get everybody happy unless you alternate between a Southern and Northern meets each time. I do not however believe Japfest should be counted as one of the Local Meets as its a Paying National Meet.

Right we need to change poll then to a simple 'yes' or 'no'

The Cornish Crew would have a very similar argument / debate, but you dont hear them moaning, they just get on with organising local meets themselves.

They did when it was the other way around

Why not wait until the results of the National poll on this subject that Bigkim has posted. It includes the splitting of SW into two regions so perhaps those who have voted and commented here should re-vote on Bigkim's thread.
