Above is the link to do the right thing. In a time when this country seems to of lost its way, these men fight and die by our side, for our causes with honor. We as British Citizens need to stand up for the people as unlike many of the other free loaders who wish to come to the UK, these honorable men have earned the right. Do the right thing, get on their and put your name down the way the government treats these people brings shame on us all.

what like this chap tried to in 2006

VC HERO BANNED FROM BRITAIN.

A GURKHA who won the VC fighting for Britain has been banned from coming to live here - because he has "failed to demonstrate strong ties with the UK".

Tul Bahadur Pun, 84, who won our highest bravery medal in the Second World War, wants to spend his last days among old comrades and having treatment for several health problems.

At his ramshackle home in Nepal, he said last night: "I feel bitterly disappointed at the way successive British governments have treated me.

"I have served the UK with the utmost loyalty and to be treated this way is appalling." Tul was handed his VC by Lord Mountbatten in 1944 for single-handedly charging a Japanese position in Burma under heavy fire.

In an "exemplary" 18 year Army career he won 10 more medals, risking his life in Malaysia, India and Hong Kong, and served several tours of duty in Britain.

Now living in a hut with no proper roof, running water or sanitation in a village 16,000ft up in the Himalayas, Tul has diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems and asthma. His eyesight is poor and he has hearing trouble.

He said: "I take a substantial amount of medication daily, without which I would die. There is not always a constant supply. When it runs out I feel vulnerable. There are no doctors or nurses, no medical outposts. I wish to settle in the UK to have better access to medication, care and support from doctors and nurses.

"I have to pay for these out of my pension from the British Army of 132 per month.

"I am very weak and... have to travel to the Gurkha camp in Pokhara every month to collect my pension. If I do not go in person I will not receive it.

"It takes three hours to drive, then a one-day walk. As I am unable to walk unaided I have to be carried by two or three men.

"The medication can be very expensive and I sometimes cannot afford it and rely on my family to pay for it. If they are unable to, which is often, I have to borrow money. This is very degrading."

Tul applied for indefinite leave to enter Britain. The law allows for deserving cases to be let in but British officials in Nepal said they were "not satisfied... your application meets the requirements".

They added: "This is because you have failed to demonstrate that you have strong ties with the UK." Astonishingly, among the reasons were: "You have not produced satisfactory evidence that you have a chronic or long term medical condition where treatment here would significantly improve your quality of life."

Tul said he will appeal. His lawyer Martin Howe, of Ealing, West London, said: "These heroes should be welcomed yet they are treated like beggars and pariahs.

"What stronger tie is there than being prepared to lay down your life in defence of Britain?"

The Foreign Office said last night: "He can apply again, addressing the concerns of the entry clearance officer."

so what if he needs medication and the nhs has to take up the slack, he served OUR country with distinction and honour he won the VC ffs he deserved to be treated with humilty by the FO and instead was treated worse than an immigrant from just about anywhere else

imho its just shameful

These people in government are supposed to represent us. We don't want spungers from other countries who want to screw the dole and support anything anti western. What do we get. A gerzillion of just so . We want to look after and reward all the pro British peoples who have fought and worked for us like the Gurkhas and people from Hong kong etc.

These poor beggers can't even get a look in. Then they say politicians aren't out of touch with us. I'd laugh if it wasn't so sad.

signed! had a friend that served in the faulklands. he said they were great ppl. even though a little on the small side, they fought like animals. told me that it was cruel of maggie thatcher to set them on the argies :mac1: apparently, they stomped across the island.

i saw the news a while back about this, it seems so wrong for the uk to turn their back on a group of ppl that willing fought for this country.

just been reading into this so i get my fact correct and this dates back to 1947 when the british east indian company was dispanded and the 10 existing gurkha regiments were split up, some of which went on to set up the indian army.

according to law if they have been serving in the gurkhas for more than 4 years then they are allowed to apply for citizenship in the UK?? so whats this petition for then??

Mike

Because the government ISNT allowing them citizenship you twat, arrrrg

actually guys, im really stoked about the support, baring Kirbs but im sure he will come round.

I thought this was going to be a petition to have McDonalds remove gherkins from their burgers. I am bitterly dissapointed to find out this is not the case.

My Father was in Malaya in the early 50s with these guys and although he left us when I was young I still remember his stories about them.As others have stated its a joke that these men and their immediate family cannot live here.I have signed as anyone who defends britain should be allowed to live here. Its not as if they are freeloaders unlike a lot of people from elsewhere

how about re-phrasing that.... Im one of those imigrants you speak of.... but the day I stepped foot in this country I rented my own property (privately - did not seek help from the goverment), and I got myself a job...... why put us imigrants all in the same boat.

Some of us work harder than the Brits and we still get flamed for fook all.

im sick of Illegal immigrants and asylum seakers, im very happy though when if im ever on my death bed with a terminal disease that, the Iranian, Dr, learned man, saves my life!

I just think our country has now hit crisis point with its imigrants, yes controlled imigration so your all right :D but just to open its doors to any EU country was always going to be stupid and has proved so.

Chris, if you read the law there IS (please read that bit again) there IS a law that automatically allows a gurkha who has served 4 years or more to come into this country, the only thing you should be b1tching about is the fact that only gurkhas who served on or after 1997 can qualify.

yes and some of us realise that, just some of us have very blinkered eyesight.

Mike, guy who has served 20 years and is now retired from the army, who served as a lieutenant applied and was denied. The law says tehy can apply, it dont say jack about them being accepted so it makes them like any other immigrant. They are not like any other immigrant, they have earned their right to be here. Unlike some people who just got lucky and where born here and have done naff all to help our society.

all the government need to do is move the qualifying date to alot earlier to solve this but you also have to realise that we need strict imigration rules that need to be stuck to regardless

Maybe its just because I'm an "old soldier" my self but I'm proud to say this mans treatment brought tears (of shame) to my eyes.

Kirbz I fully understand and agree with your point on uncontrolled illegal immigration maybe the problem lies in the fact that Gurkhas are decent and honorouble men. I bet you wont see any of them jumping into the back of a lorry at Sangatte.

 Seems harsh  Just because he doesn't share the same view?

I'm in full support of any Ghurka or immigrant that fights for british soil. they leave there home, to come and fight for this country, so they all should be given the option to become a british citizen.

for every 300 vacancies in the Ghurka's, 3000 apply.

The Ghurkas are well mannered, loyal to britain, smart & hard working. just the kind of people this country needs.

An Just to clear things up The Ghurka Regiments, are regiments within the BRITISH ARMY. ;)

The Gurkhas are now based at Shorncliffe near Folkestone, Kent - but they do not become British citizens.

The soldiers are still selected from young men living in the hills of Nepal - with about 28,000 youths tackling the selection procedure for just over 200 places each year.

The selection process has been described as one of the toughest in the world and is fiercely contested.

Young hopefuls have to run uphill for 40 minutes carrying a wicker basket on their back filled with rocks weighing 70lbs.

Mark they also have a regiment in Catterick

The Ghurka's are trained at the Infantry Training Centre at Catterick.

I spent nearly 2 years of my life there, wonderful place:rolleyes::p

wernt they based in hong kong before that? and when it was handed over they moved to the UK?
