For you who know i bought a Z with the intention to drive while upgrading and bought a what seemed to be an ok to start with, MOT was only 300ish miles ago so thought cool, get it home and find all sorts wrong with it. This is a lesson to be learned harshly and I will not be doing it again lol. Well today as got of work a lil early i decide to get it out the garage where its been since day 22nd Feb :( and jack it up and look underneath and try find where the oil is coming from, well i found that out but i found all this also. Now my dilemma is I am follow guides from certain law factors about my right to a full refund if not take him to court and get compo also. Now if this does not happen what is my chances with the state that the underside is in ???

Found so much stuff underneath held on with cableties also its not even funny....

but you can also see the whole of the bottom of the car is scraped and I have no idea wether its deemed as a write off or is infact at all repairable obviously I not touching while I am persuing the legalities but its an "If i have no other choice"

here is some pics :nelson:

Hi,

You might have got a decent enough NA for that money, but a TT was always going to be a bit ropey!

My import NA had a rust free floorpan that you could eat your dinner off!...So it looks like your car has been driven around in this Country for a few winters to get in that state!

Jez.

At £2295 it was never gonna be a peach.

Dunno, i've seen a couple of Z's on here bought for unfer 2K that are pretty tight!

Im gobsmacked by the state of the car though. Hope you get it sorted!!

I bought mine for 2000 and the underneath was spotless.

although everything else needed atention.

from what i can make out it has been proper slammed to the ground as the oil rad is damaged also and the whople car is just scraped on the underside, but had some nice post come thru that it is infact illegal to sell a car in an "unroadworthy" condition which this is beyond lol. Now all i gotta do is wait ;) Was looking forward to doing it up also lol but after getting underneath it i was more than shocked, i thought the mech was filling me with bull when he said he was scared the floor might go throu if it was on a jack haha.

What does it say in the log book about when it was first registered in this country. It sounds like it is an early one and probably suffered badly from the salt, after all import vehicles do not get the same underbody protection as a UK vehicle.

i had similar problem with mine . i paid £3195.00 for my uk 300zx . looked stunning in white in the sun . checked all round the sills, underneath , and could only find a couple blemish's . paid the money .got the car home drove it round for a couple weeks . then the rain come . think the rain softened up a couple rusty patches that weren't visible when i looked at it . then the rust patches turned in to big holes . put the car in the body shop have had the

rear of the sills inner and outer repaired

rear quarter panel [ bit where the bumper covers ] repaired

inner quarter panel

rear wheel arches repaired .

then had the rear end painted

. i suppose the moral of the story is you can never be to careful when parting with cash . i won't be stung again . screwdriver coming with me next time . poke as many holes as possible .

there are some real *******s out there so i really feel for you mate . good luck with the legal proceedings. cheers

how much that cost ya ? just curious as this may go teets up lol. I think the body work is main concern on it everything else I could do or get done.

Having pondered the rust pics I must say that mine has, in the past, been in a similar condition. The floorpan required a little welding for the last MOT which I did myself and IMO made a good job of it.

With regards to the other bits:

- The front suspension member (or whatever it's proper name is) will rust around the edges of the steel pressings since they have sharp edges and paint doesn't hold on on such surfaces. (Unless you're engine has dripped oil all over it)

- The oil cooler bracket will always rust because again its a pressing, but also because it's right at the front of the car and consequently gets battered by stones and other road debris.

Other areas that will rust:

- The diff is an iron casting - it'll rust (unless you leak oils of tranny fluid of course!)

- The rear subframe is made up of pressings which will rust around the edges

- The rear gearbox mount - same as above

- The front diff bracket - same as above

- Fuel tank straps (less common this one)

- Rear seat belt bolts

- The front crossmember - rusts lots. Firstly because it's made of pressings and also because Nissan decided to put a sponge insert between the rad and the crossmember which only promotes rusting as it naturally holds moisture against it for longer!

Don't beat yourself up too bad - I'm sure you can get it sorted for a very reasonable fee. You have paid, IMO, a low price for a Z!

Hope this helps and maybe makes you feel a little better..

sold for 600 quid i aint got the time and money to feck about with takin the guy to court to get full amount back just for him not to pay under court order. I know where he lives so enough said...

I never bothered touching it I dont have the time now due to getting fit for my army fitness course. I will get another TT in the future and this time will probably look at the 4k+ mark :D

For the time being I will just use the NA model I have :D

Forge 300Zx - he never answers phone calls or email which is why I phoned Trading standards and they directed me.

Large portions of Tags are Jp unber the bonnet all manuals are jp also. And believe me I would so like to visit him.... but in the state of mind I would get into it isn't wise ;)

Paul Thompson - Yeah I think it looks alot better than the original slot ones.

???? just to point out this is nothing to do with this forge 300zx :smash:
