A 18 y/o in a 500 ponied M5.

Can anyone see the problem there?

saw this on another forum, there should be laws or regulations on what you should drive with what experience but that would spoil it for the majority of people who can be sensible but considering those rules apply for organ donors, sorry, bikers then why not?

that is a sad story, i guess its just weird as its all documented from before the accident to after. Guy seemed pretty sound......

Hope that situation doesn't come up on here!!!!

Sad story. Have to agree with Chis though. An 18y/o in a 500 pony car = bad news

it could be anybody in a 500 pony car though, if you havnt got the experience you shouldnt be driving it IMO

yeah but when you're old enough to afford it yourself, you can't blame anybody else if you end up dead - in this case the ****wit dad's 100% responsible in my opinion!

but what about the four others that got in the car with him, suppose they knew the danger really so cant just blame the lad driving, he didnt force them in the car

Reading his posts, and especially his last post

"Josh

.....and I plan to have all the pics up tommorow ;)"

It looks like he was flat out on the airstrip taking pics/video or something to post the next day. :(

This is the thing with america, insurance for these kids is nothing, you see so many of them driving nice motors at the age of 16 17. its ridiculous!

You should only be able to drive performance once you shown you are capable of doing so. Liams spot on. it should be like bike licences, that you have to progress from small cc bikes to mid sized before you can jump on an R1 or FireBlade. There is just no substitute for experience.

Saying that, the kid could have easily have been in an old shit box tyring to get it flat out and left the braking too late, and the result would have ended up the same

Should be like Italy, they cant drive anything over 1000cc for 2 years after passing and they cant pass their driving test till 18.

that nearly had me in tears!

its ok putting blame on whoever, im pretty sure some of you lot have driven your zed to its extremes putting yourselves in danger, you may think you can handle it, im sure that kid did till it went tits up!!

theres a point, at least the M5 had decent brakes, if it had been a 500pony zed they would still be orbiting the earth.

EDIT sorry just read that and it sounds like I'm trying to make a joke of it which I'm not.

if he was in a 500 pony zed he wouldnt have time to drive it because he would be on here 24/7 defending himself against all teh flamers.

quoted from the thread: "I don't have anything against young guys driving nice cars, but an 18 year old behind the wheel of an M5 is what accidents are made of IMO."

chilling :( tho the argument could be turned around by saying he was on an airstrip, not on a public road so he showed some form of common sense, just not the maturity.

Its dodgey how the bloke said he would make the news

I had 3 mates that lost there lives last year (07) :(
