Not wanting to hijack the NA v TT thread thats on at the mo, Ive just got a question about 300zx/Fairlady insurance that stellaZ posted in response to my post.

Let me see if I've got this right. If I was to insure a TT import, it would be registered as a Fairlady and not a 300zx right? I'm only getting a little confused.com as when I use said website it gives me the option to insure both 300zx and fairlady twin turbo's as either UK or Jap. Obviously the difference in quotes between a zx and a fairlady is huge, so i wanna get this right!

would not waste you time on confusedwasteofwebspace.com if its an import!

If the car is a UK model ( Nissan badge on the nose panel, wider rear wheels, uk Numberplate recess, no reflectors in the rear bumper, fog lights etc etc) its a 300zx,

If its an import its a Fairlady( Z badge on the nose panel, square numberplate recess, etc)

I guess what I'm really asking here then is that Imports from Jap. will have to be insured as Fairlady's? Whereas UK models are insured as 300zx's? And thats the bottom line yes? I mean, a J import can't be insured as a 300zx right?

Oh, and at the moment I'm only using confused as a baseline (as I always do), altho having said that they usually come up trumps for me!

well when i asked them, not one would insure me, i can only assume it was due to being an import, i was very peeved though that they let me waste my time filling alll the details for nothing!

yes as im aware all imports would be insured as a fairlady

Hang on NO - all Imports will not be insured as Fairlady...dont rely on the insurer calling UK cars 300zx, and Imports Fairlady...its all down to whatever they decide to call it on there system !

Many insurers will only have it listed as 300zx....and will later on ask if you if an Import or UK. If they dont ask, then it presumes its a UK car and they dont insure Imports.
