hi all is there a way to set the theottle bodis for tick over . went to a garage last year and he messed around to keep it ticking over but it was an air leak. now they need setting up again, at tick over the throttle sticks as if the butterfly in the body is jamming.

the cable is free it dosent do it with the engine off. so maybe the vacumm has a role to play .

hoping to get it set up before the mot for the emissions

If you mean there is a hesitation like the butterflys stick when you first press the throttle then you can remove the large rubber intake pipes and try cleaning the butterflys, they usually get crudded up with oil (from crankcase gases) over time.

Also check that they both open at the same time, and can be adjusted on the hinge stops.

Its likely that any idle adjustment was previously done with the TPS (small black box) which is bolted to the passenger side throttle body, you can adjust it by undoing the 8mm nuts and move the unit a few degrees with engine running.

the throttle actually sticks solid, i have to push hard on the thottle o release it but its not the cable ..thats free

bit of a bugger when setting off fom the lights. no hessitation just like it jams

was wondering it they were closing too far and could be set up

ah right...in that case it could be the the crankcase breather that has pushed itself out to far and is touching the throttle linkage.....I will find a pic

You need to knock it back in, perhaps with a little locktite. The vacumn pressure is probably pushing it when engine is running.

which part is this showing exactly. I remember on a free mods sticky Topless recommend cable tieing the breather or something so guess this is the same thing but what is what exactly in this picture and what needs cable tieing to what???
