Due to a potential virus I am unable to boot my pc. I have tried the System

Restore, which did not work.

I have a removable disc drive with a complete C Drive Backup.

If there is anyone that could help me resolve this problem then please call me

on: 01953 498443.

Obviously I do not have internet access, so please don't bother replying to this thread. I have sent this message on a friend's pc.

Generous discount will be given on your next car parts purchase for anyone

that can help.

Many thanks,

Andy

I tried to call him this morning, but his mobile was off and his landline just rang and rang....

To add to my troubles I now have a stomach bug, which is why I didn't answer the phone the other day. I'm 90% better now though and I will be answering the phone tomorrow (Wednesday) on my mobile. My mobile no. is 0776 176 3474.

Many thanks in advance.

When you say you cannot boot up your computer, when you turn it on do you get like NTLDR file missing or something like that?? IF so i had that and can tell you how to get round it!

I wonder if he means a C Drive Backup....or a C Drive Clone.....

If its a clone the old system bios settings would be an easy fix ...

Hi

I have borrowed someones laptop

Still have the problem. When it boots up, it still loads windows xp, but comes up with loads of errors including DEP errors. I disabled DEP but then I get loads of errors saying missing .DLL files.

So windows comes up ok, but no network, printer etc.

The backup I have was done while windows was running, but I think all files were backed up.

If anyone can help then let me know your number and I can always ring you??

thanks again

If you can, try McAfee Viruusscan if nothing else, best virus killer on the market... if you can't load up the CD then best left to someone else...

I would probably download the install programs for

a virus removal program like AVG

and at least 3 spyware removal programs (AVG, SpyBot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware)

download the files onto your laptop - then transfer them to a USB flash Drive and then install them onto your fooked computer.

Try running All of them one after the other.....I'd probably start with the spyware ones.....then a full virus scan

Alternatively if it isn't a virus if you have an original XP CD you could try running a repair on the whole thing.

When the CD boots.....DON'T choose R-repair,

you choose to install it - onto the C drive - you choose the C drive you already have it installed on and now choose to Repair it :)

Just an idea mind you.
