When turbos give up the ghost

Thanks for all the advice guys i think im getting there now smile.gif could anyone tell me when these turbos do go what price am i looking at to get them sorted? The reason im asking is that if i am to buy a car that's on the original turbos i guess i'll have to add the cost of new turbos onto the cost of buying the car?

SE Nissan quote in their catalogue:

Std recon units £475

Stage 1 £700

Stage 2 £750

Stage 3 £830

Plus fitting (engine out approx 16 hours labour @ £50ph) + fluids.

SE prices are usually 'all inclusive', and that means VAT. Also most of their work is fixed price, so whilst they may not be the cheapest (LOL) you always know what you're gonna pay, which is unlike going to a Nissan dealer.

Also their labour rate is nearer £40 than £60 per hour for 300's. I think the catalogue price for engine removal/replacement is £650.

Yep...S E Nissan labour rate is currently £47.95 INCLUSIVE of VAT.....can't really complain at that!

If the workmanship is as good as the prices then it is impressive! Almost makes owning a Z32 less than horrendously expensive. smile.gif

P'raps not. Mine's stock (apart from a Mongoose), had it for nearly three years from 70,000k / 43,000m, just broken 130,000km / 81,000m and, fingers firmly crossed touch wood etc, not a sign of anything nasty going on in the engine / turbo department.

Be gentle, don't redline all the time, don't redline at all till thoroughly warmed up, gently wind down rather than thrash to a standstill, keep full of relevant fluids, don't miss important anniversaries, don't forget regular servicing -

in fact

owning a Zed is like making lurve to a beautiful lady. Fine wines, belgian chocolates.... ohnononononono, senna's teapots are after me again
