Hey Folks

Ive had the stethopscope around the belt pulleys etc today to try and locate a rummble/vibration and im almost sure its the top idler pulley thats suspect with a noisy bearing,is this a dealer part does anyone know.

I also appreciate realistically that to change it the tension on the belt should be slackened off via the adjuster but just wondered if it could be done without going that far as would have to remove lots more parts futher down to get to the tensioner

Thanks Paul

I think it would be best to replace the whole lot while your in that far, unless your sure everything is going to last a while, ie belt tensioner, idlers' water pump accessory belts etc, you would kick your self if your water pump went in a couple of months

I think i will mate to be on the safe side, just been looking through the history(after posting this thread up,should have done it before posting..lol..) and the belt/water pump was changed in 2003,although its not done much mileage since then the age factor is there so probably wise to change the lot

cheers Paul

I got one of these ebay 230192810193 equal or above OEM spec approved. Had to pay import taxes but was still a good deal. Nissan Tensioner assembly alone is near £500 (son in law works with dealership Pendragon ) Had the whole lot , belt water pump, gaskets, idler and tension bearings (plus assembly & Arm) for sub £200. Got someone else to fit it though cos I am crap.
