What is this button for - help please!

Could someone let me know what this button actualy does. Its fitted to my `90 Jap import. Not having yet worked out how to add a picture of the button, I will describe it:

It is a circular rocker type switch with a small red led on the farthest edge. The switch is located to the right of the gear selector on the console trim outside of the gaitor trim. The car is actualy an auto, but, I could'nt think of a better way to describe that area.

I am guessing but is it to do with the parking poles that could have once been a feature?

Hope someone can help. Before any one asks though, I have pushed it but not noticed anything happen or change. Sorry!

That is where they fitted my rear fog light switch.

It could explain why you cannot see what it does.

Have'nt noticed these change when pushed. I thought the fogs are controlled by the swith on the main dash to the right of the tacho's etc.

I have a pictur of this button and will post when I work out how to.

Thanks for the thought though.

Ahh! I'll get round the back tomorrow and check they work.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Wish they'd put a small icon on this thing!

On mine the switch on the RH cluster only turns on the front spots, there is a separate switch for the rear fogs. Law says that fogs must have some sort of indicator that they're on, hence the light on the switch.

Cheers Andy, the ? at the end of your quick response threw me. I'm gona get round the back and check it works in the morning. Would be easier to see tonight, but now too comfortable.

Thanks again for the help.

Now running with keys in hand to have a look..... only joking, looks like there is trouble brewing on Big Brother Little brother. Will post tomorrow as to whether you have the answer or not, like the theory though.

Cheers m8!

Its the "need-a-service-now" button, press it once and each Nissan component starts to fail one at a time over a 2 year period to generate income for the Nelsons. Press it twice and the car breaks down immediately.

Not being an Auto driver (I have a manual biggrin.gif) but isn't that the power/hold thing for the Autobox ?

Herman

Nope the power/hold switch isn't illuminated. Sounds like an aftermarket switch for something.

This will be the rear fogs switch.

Sounds like the one my mechnic fits when he does the fog conversion.
