BIG Thanks To JeffTT - Gearbox Flush (well worth a read)

BIG thanks to JeffTT for the gearbox flush and oil change yesterday.

My Auto box was playing up a bit and needed a flush, had this done yesterday and it's like I am driving a new car, seriously!!

I have been blowing black smoke when under load and it's been holding the gears plus power steering has been 'tempremental' to say the least.......

I had already changed the speed sensor, TPS and both the fuel regulator and fuel dampner, made no real change for a week or so until I had the gearbox flush.....

I can now motor under full load with no smoke, no holding gears and it changes as smooth on the way up as it does on the way down and when I am driving normally you can't feel the gear changes they are that smooth........plus the power steering is light as a feather at low speed!

If you ain't had your Auto box flushed for a while I reccommend you get it done. I have also noticed a definate lull in vibrations under the seat of my pants!!

Z running pukka.........(touch wood!)

Wow - I thought Jeff only serviced cars !

Hairsy! and I thought you knew me better than that!!! biggrin.gif

Jeff TT

According to Matty's previous posts one of the main attractions of Jeff's servicing was his daughter ! Not sure how that'll work out in the new premises, unless she will be there helping out ! wink.gif

Anyway, back to the facts. How does a gearbox flushv stop a car smoking ?

AndyP,

I have no idea.....

It smoked before it went......and doesn't smoke anymore!

What 'gizmos' are plugged into the box then? (apart from the speed sensor) I guess whatever is plugged into the box is what was making my Z smoke under load....

Now under full load changing at 7,000 it doesn't smoke and smoothly changes through the gears.......

Andy I wish I knew exactly what it was so I could say 'Having this done corrected this and made this better....' but as we all know I am not one of the 'technical' minded people on here so I'll keep quiet, and not say anything stupid!!!

Matty,

Another point how did this resolve the Power Steering???

Unless a PAS fluid change was done as well??

Confused

Leigh

Does it smoke less because Jeff cleaned any excess oil off the exhaust, oil that would perhaps smoke when the exhast got that hot?

Speed Sensor???? I know that is 'plugged' into the Auto box....and if your oil is like fudge it won't work as it should!

Tim,

I blew black smoke out, running rich type of thing but now after the box flush all is clear!

I did change the fuel regulater and fuel dampner, TPS and Speed Sensor. This made no real difference until the box was flushed and now it doesn't smoke at all.....if it was oil it would have smoked whilst parked but it only smoked under load.

Maybe a flush will sort my Auto gearbox also.

Just dis a diagnostic check which gave a TPS error. Pushed this in firmlt which gave a 55 code.

Yet car still wont change from 2nd to third.

Roy,

I had clumpy, lumpy, jerky gear changes and a certain level of noise/vibration from the gearbox, it really had problems changing up through the gears and was juddery on it's way back down, having the flush I can now tell how bad it really was!! no more smoking either.

It was something I was used to I suppose not knowing any different, now I know....I will be getting a flush every 12 months without fail, it's like driving a new car and plus my new F1 rubber on it's so, so much quieter on the roads!!

LOVE IT!!

Good stuff Matty. Seems like theres smiles all round but now I am in 2 minds whether to go for the red line oil box change as my motor has 117K on the clock and I dont think that it has ever been done.

What do you think people?

Give Jeff a bell........It should be done every 12 months, so I'm told.

He'll sort it.

I swear it's like driving a new car.......I have taken to "Just going for a drive, be back in 30 minutes...."

Couple of hours later......."Miss me..?"

Only to get a reply of "Dinner is in the dog, If we had one that is....."

Can't help but drive the Z now....
