Hey neil, what makes you think we'll ever get the choice?

 

The poor long-suffering motorist (i.e. us) already pays many times in tax than what we get back again for roads etc. No matter how we pay for it, the government always wants and takes more.

 

Road tax taxes the ownership of vehicles and Customs duty / VAT taxes usage of vehicles (like tolls, really, I s'pose).

 

Put up taxes on ownership and pensioners / country dwellers / fox-shooters complain. Put up taxes on usage and truck drivers bring the country to a halt.

 

Still, it's cheaper than Japan anyway!

My road tax for my Z in Ireland in 943 euro / year or 1064 euro if i do it per quarter. If you own a second Z like I do you are supposed to pay for both cars.
