I've just come off the phone to them, following a letter I received today.

Basically, because I've exceeded the 'Fair Use Policy', they will be reducing my connection speed from (upto) 8Mg down to .5Mg (YES that is half meg!) as from the 22nd Oct.

They state that I downloaded over 74Gb in July/August and that is outside their Fair Use policy', which they NOW tell me is set at 40Gb per month! But you try finding it written anywhere on the Orange web site...... It's simply not there at all! It wasn't when I signed up, and it still isn't now!

So after a very long conversation on the phone with them, I got nowhere and will have to put up with the downgraded speed for six weeks!

So BEWARE, their UNLIMITED Broadband ISN'T! It's a con, and (AFAIK) against the advertising Standards for the UK.

i am with orange broadband and have an orange mobile contract. They are absolutely terrible to ring up and try and get something sorted out. In france and probably here too if you ring them up and give them sh1t they put your number on a blacklist so whenever you call them in the future you will never get through. Even worse than that they block all withheld numbers and numbers unknown to them (like landlines) because of people using other phones to call them up to complain about their terrible service.

Not surpised they have so many complaints. There website is carp too and always crashes.

Saying all that i have never had any problems with my phone or broadband so thankfully not really had to call them much. Though i better watch how much i download now....but 40gb is quite a heavy amount!!!

It depends what you're downloading ;)

But isnt really the point, if it's supposed to be Unlimited, then that's what it should be! If it was stated as 40Gb, then I'd of known in the first place, which I didn't.

Arr well, I'll be out of contract for the internet with them in February, so they can F Off from then :D The connection speed has been crap in the evenings from day one, and whenever I complain about it I'm told that it's only 'UP TO' 8Mg speed, and depends on the distance from the exchange........ I live about 500 yards from it, and am lucky to obtain 6Mg max! Normally in the evenings I'll only have 1.5Mg tops. Never had any probs with AOL at my old house which was 1 1/2 miles from the exchange.

thanks fully iv'e never had any problem but read the fine print, i transfer between 10 - 35 gb a day and never had a problem

ive been with them for ages and had a fair few run-ins. their customer service is a disgrace in my opinion. i posted on here about a year ago while i was waiting in a queue and i waited for nearly an hour before i got through to someone!

My maths might be crap but 2x40=80 so with that in mind over July/August you were inside their fair use policy by 4gig so what is their problem?

why the hell would you put up with them, there are far better companies and deals out there. Virgin kicks ass. We save big time as we have everything with them. Tracey worked out a month ago if we went with someone else we would save £10 a month, phoned virgin and they dropped our monthly charge by £20 a month. Plus the people on the phone always sound like they want to help you.

Id always gladly pay an extra few £'s for a top notch service.

Never had a problem with orange had a phone with them since they started

Customer service always spot on.

Broadband has been no problems at all over the last 2 years

Mind you I do not dowload as much porn as that ;)

Orange call centers are shutting down in the next two weeks, and also all orange internet customers are to be transfered onto broadband. This means a very large influx on the sever units and they are predicting that they cannot handle the demand. The daughter worked there until last friday when they were all told this info. Good look guy's.

To answer two points here.....

1) 74Gb was an average over the two months ;) I forgot to mention that part.

2) I put up with them because I'm in a contract with them, simple really.

But I won't be with them once the contract is over in February.

Oh, and not one single byte of any of the downloading was porn!
